collapse expand iconDescription

The Grand Canyon is EHX’s most advanced multifunction delay and looper pedal. It’s equipped with 12 effect types plus a fully featured looper capable of recording and overdubbing the Grand Canyon’s effects.

The pedal provides superior sound quality, up to three seconds of delay time, tap tempo and nine tap divide settings, stereo output, 13 presets, programmable EXP pedal settings, high-quality analog bypass with soft switching and more. The Grand Canyon’s 13 modes are:

1. ECHO – Pristine 24-bit digital delay with available bit crush/sample rate reduction and low-/high-pass filtering
2. MOD – Modulated delay, yields rich flanger, chorus, vibrato, warble and more
3. MULTI – Multi-tap delay, set the exact number of echo repeats up to 31; includes adjustable swell or decay volume envelopes on repeats
4. REVERSE – Reverse delay, an easy-to-use reverse delay with an intelligent pick detection algorithm for great sounding reverse echoes
5. DMM – Deluxe Memory Man, re-creates the luscious tone of EHX ‘s legendary bucket-brigade delay pedal
6. TAPE – Tape Delay, simulates the organic sound of an analog tape, echo machine including tape distortion, wow and flutter
7. REVERB – Plate reverb plus echo. A reverberant echo where each repeat is followed by a wash of gorgeous plate reverb. Can also be used as a pure reverb without the delay
8. PITCH – EHX’s critically acclaimed polyphonic pitch shifting plus digital delay provides pitch-shifted echoes and cascading echo repeats
9. SHIM – Shimmer generates a rich octave-shifted wash of shimmering soundscapes
10. SAMPLE/HOLD – Sample and hold, senses a note being played and produces echoes indefinitely until another note is detected
11. DRUM – Magnetic drum echo that faithfully emulates a classic Binson Echorec-style delay, and features an assortment of playback head configurations that let you create musical, rhythmic, echo patterns
12. DOUBLE – Thickens up a mono signal or creates a stereo spread. Includes detune and delay time offset of the left and right outputs
13. LOOPER – Looper with up to 16 minutes of recording time, and includes unlimited overdubs, undo/redo, dedicated stop button, loop fade-out, reverse and speed adjust

  • Delay/Looper Pedal-Good Stuff

This is a fantastic pedal. I bought it just for the loop feature because it has pitch-speed. Manual says it goes from half speed to double but in my language it simply means the pitch range goes from -50% to +50%. Everything else is crazy delightful. Delays are strong and many settings to choose from. You can even record a loop with the delay on it or apply after. Really creates some far out stuff with this pedal when you combine the delays with the loop reverse, can be a powerful tool for those that dabble in the ambient scene with its droning and zoning out capabilities. Like I said, the looper is what attracted me with its pitch-speed knob. How old school loopers were made back in the day. I enjoy roaming around the sound spectrum of my own playing and invent something new I couldn't before without the feature. Awesome pedal indeed. Is it worth the $275? Not really, unless it had a loop edit feature, then price is justifiable. But is expensive for a delay/loop pedal. However, there is no other pedal like this, unless its a form of two seperate pedals. So you can't go wrong with this.

  • Versatile and compact but plenty of features!

Plenty of incredible delay, reverb and mod effects. Slight learning curve but well worth the time to dig into to find your sound. Great looper that can be used with or without the felt effects.

The original Canyon is pretty awesome (even the famed JHS pedal builder expressed "jelousy" as he listed it as one of his top delays under $100 on Reverb). This deluxe edition expands on the already great features. Now you get stereo outs, the looper function is more accessible, as well as what were secondary functions on the compact version. The price feels a tad steep. Is it worth $120 more than the original? You decide.

The first thing I noticed is that this thing is tiny. You literally need a magnifying glass to read the settings. The second thing I notices is that only 3 of the possible delay types sounded good. The echo, the deluxe memory man, and the shimmer sounded great...the rest of the delays were junk. The third thing I noticed is that this pedal hisses while engaged. NO, it is not my rig...my rig is dead quiet, it is this pedal. The fourth thing I noticed is that the setting knobs were super sensitive...You may have delay at 200ms and then you simply breathe on the rate knob and it turns to 1.2 seconds of delay (I am exaggerating, but you know what I am saying). This pedal is worth $100...for this price you are WAY better off with TC electronics flashback. There is no purpose for this pedal, it is garbage.

I have zero doubt that this thing sounds great. Love EHX sounds. But is it going to be a pain in the neck live, and/or impossible to put on a normal human being's pedal board. I don't want one of those monster pedalboards with thirty pedals, just a small efficient pedal with distortion, tuner, reverb, and this looper. Is this a good pedal for live music and a pedalboard. i want it because of hte delays and the "decay" function.

This pedal would be a good choice and would work well for live performances. However, it does take up a considerable amount of space on a pedal board.
