when activated this pedal saps all the fullness out of my guitar's tone. sounds too much like my phaser. also makes a ton of noise which none of the other pedals on my board do. had an ibanez flanger from the 80s for many years that died. still looking for a replacement.
Junk - worst pedal I've ever tried.

Total piece of junk. Hisses way more than my compressor pedals set to max sustain, and had a continuous squeak sound at maybe 6kHZ... Totally unusable.
Intensity!!!

This pedal will make your sound intense! Filter matrix section is actually very usable to add color to any tone. Works well with drive and distortion pedals. I can't stop using it. Makes playing even more fun!!!

I purchased the item with two guitar players in mind: Andy Summers and David Gilmour. Both of those gentlemen used the Electronic Mistress in the rigs from 1970s and 1980s. I am happy to say that this box will give close approximations of the signature sounds. For Summers, one should get this order: Compressor/clean boost to overdrive (TS808 type) to Delay (Boss DD7) to the EHX neo mistress. That setup will get you into the land of the Police. For Gilmour, one should try a Big M*ff pi fuzz to the EHX neo mistress to a delay (Boss DD-7). That setup will give you the Comfortably Numb lead sound. I like that the unit is compact and has boss style output jack. Those features do make the unit pedal board friendly. If there is a drawback to the Neo Mistress, the unit produces hiss and this fact can be a problem. I have considered buying a noise gate (ie. EHX silencer or Boss NS-2) to remedy this issue. Overall, I am pleased with my purchase. Considering the unit cost under $100, I feel it worthy of being on my rig.
Sound like Andy Summers from the Police!

If you want to sound like Andy Summers from the Police, this is the pedal for you! Not quite as good as the deluxe version (which includes more options like chorus) but much more affordable and smaller. It sounds like a metallic, sweeping wave! Amazing harmonic swirling effect! It uses true bypass switching and 2 knobs for simple, easy-to-use controls. The rate knob controls the sweep speed. The feedback knob controls the depth of the sweep. It includes the ?Filter Matrix,? which allows you to freeze the sweep (giving you everything from classic jet tones to steel drums). Pros Affordable Versatile Compact Durable Excellent sound quality Maintains tone Cons Noisy background feedback Less options than deluxe version
