If you want to make a guitar sound........not like a guitar!
It cures my itch for synth sounds. I'm a guitarist at heart but I love me some synth. I can not say I can use every sound but they are 9 there for inspiration. It is kind of touch sensitive. Use in beginning of effects chain. Any thing before adds more NOISE! It also sounds cool with fuzz- distortion or modulation used after them in the chain.

Not worth the money
I saw all the videos on Youtube and decided to give this pedal a try. I was disappointed because most of the synth sounds, sound to much like each other, the only exception was the synth strings. Also for the price, EHX could have added a user memory preset save for each selected synth bank.

I use this in my project studio. Fun layering sounds on top of my guitar tracks.

It's unresponsive at times and unruly. They have "recommended settings" for each mode, and those are as good as it gets. Move off them and it becomes even less responsive and more unruly. Sounds too crackly and hissy to be useable in a band or performance - at least if you like a tight sound. Still, it's a cool idea, and has it's moments (why it didn't get a one-star review).

I have returned the Synth9 as it did not fit in with the bands I play with. Great piece of equipment but couldn't justify keeping it at yhe price with as little use as I would get.
Great addition! Great product!

This is an awesome pedal for adding to your gig kit. It provides some very synth-like sounds, although you have to think more like a keyboard player when using this, meaning that you have considerable sustain when holding chords or notes, arpeggios are easily muddied by slides, etc. you'll see figure it out quickly.
