collapse expand iconDescription

Elixir Medium Polyweb Acoustic Guitar Strings are crafted for musicians seeking peak performance and playability. Boasting Elixir's innovative Polyweb coating, these strings retain a robust, warm tone while preventing the buildup of tone-deadening debris that plagues uncoated strings. The coating's slick and fast feel allows for effortless fingering along the neck.

Polyweb Coating: Protection and Playability

Elixir's patented Polyweb coating encapsulates each string, shielding not just the outer surface, but also the gaps between windings where gunk typically accumulates in other brands. This barrier keeps each string fresh-sounding, maintaining a clear midrange presence and playable feel. While uncoated strings can sound dull in just days, Elixir Polyweb strings provide up to 5 times more tone life.

80/20 Bronze: Full-Bodied Tone

Constructed of 80/20 bronze wrap wire, these medium gage strings produce a warm, robust tone that sounds "played-in" right out of the pack. The bronze alloy exhibits an ideal balance of brightness and depth, yielding rich overtones and harmonics. Combined with the Polyweb coating, these strings deliver a rich, nuanced sound with crisp articulation.

Medium Gauge: Versatile and Responsive

With gauges of .013, .017, .026, .035, .045, and .056, the medium set offers a versatile and responsive feel for a variety of musical styles. The slightly lighter first and second strings facilitate intricate fingerpicking, while the heavier lower strings provide full projection and sustain. This balanced tension also minimizes fret buzz, allowing each note to ring out with clarity.

Built to Last

Elixir Polyweb strings are designed and tested to endure the challenges of consistent play. Anti-rust plating on the plain steel strings prevents premature corrosion. The durable Polyweb coating is highly resistant to buildup and wear, enabling these strings to outlast all other coated and uncoated acoustic guitar strings currently on the market.

Great example of "you get what you pay for".

There's a reason Taylor guitars come from the factory strung with Elixirs...they are quite simply the best sounding, and the highest quality, strings on the market. The "polyweb" construction does result in the strings lasting at least twice as long as regular strings (if not a little longer). An unexpected benefit, is that the coating provides some protection against fret wear...it's polyweb vs. the frets, as opposed to a metal string vs. the frets. When playing on island venues, I've also found that the coating prevents the corrosion that was occuring seemingly overnight, due to the unavoidable exposure to the elements (such as high humidity).

Not the right strings for me.

Guitar strings are a subjective thing, and it comes down to the users preference, so note that my take on these is based on my preference and not an indication of the quality of the product. I bought these because I had heard many good things about Elixirs, but as I suspected the difference between coated/uncoated strings is not a positive one for me. These are labeled as being "slick & fast," but I find that they do just the opposite for me - the coating actually stops my fingers from sliding across the strings. The tone seems OK - I like a "duller" tone, as opposed to that bright, metallic new string sound - these are "warm" as labeled, but I'm still not really impressed with the tone they impart on my Martin D-28. I think I'm better off with the Martin strings that came on it. But again, this is just my preference, and the only way to really tell is to buy a pair and try them out. It's an inexpensive way to experiment with the tone/feel of your guitar.

My wife uses these for worship at our church and they're just incredible. For metal acoustic strings, there's no better option than Elixir. #sweepstakes
