Long Lasting Tone | ELIXIR Strings

Why use ELIXIR Strings

Description
Unlike other string brands, Elixir Strings coats the whole string. This protects not only the outer string surface but also the gaps between the windings where common tone-deadening gunk typically builds up in other brands’ coated and uncoated guitar strings. Anti-Rust Plating on plain steel strings ensures longer tone life for the entire set.
Engineered to endure, these acoustic strings constructed with phosphor bronze wrap wire boast a dynamic balance of rich, full-bodied tone and sparkling high-end clarity. Compared to the original POLYWEB Coating, the ultra-thin NANOWEB coating allows a more traditionally textured, “uncoated” feel.

Features
- Acoustic guitar strings constructed with phosphor bronze wrap wire

- Ultra-thin NANOWEB Coating provides a traditionally textured, “uncoated” feel
- Patented coating technology protects against common corrosion, extending tone life longer than any other brand’s coated or uncoated strings (Elixir Strings player survey)
- Light/Medium gauge: 13-17-26-35-45-56

Elixir extra long life
I have had a set of these strings on my accoustic 6 string jumbo for over a year! They stay in tune, no oxidation, and sound great. I usually like heavy strings for a deeper tone, but Elixirs in medium are deep but still deliver a clear beautiful sound. They sound great and really do last a really long time, worth the money.

Bad first impression and bad experience with these strings. The NANOWEB coating began peeling off these strings after about 20 hours of play time. After about 25 hours of play time, the D string broke at the bridge close to the ball end. This is odd. In my experience, the G string usually is the first strong to break because it has the thinnest core, and it usually will break at or near the tuning machine post.

I have been using Elixir Poly Web and Nano Web for over 10 years. And it's the only strings I use for my acoustic guitars. Taylor uses them on all their guitars. Bright clean sound and they last longer with the coating on them. Don't get tarnished or rusty as quick as non coated strings.

I've been playing guitar for a significant number of years, and I play a lot. Changing strings has always been a bit of an unpleasant chore, and has been necessary more often than I would like. My body chemistry has always interacted negatively with the alloys of the guitar strings, which has accelerated how often I need to change. I was hesitant to try the Elixer strings when they became available. I wasn't sure if they would provide more life, and even if they did, if they would sound any good. They fact that they cost more initially was a big concern, too. I have now been using the Elixers for a number of years, and I couldn't be happier. The tone is splendid, and it remains so for a long time between changes. I am now having to change the strings much less frequently, and the coating has eliminated the chemistry issue. I am now spending LESS on strings that I did before, and with a better result. I am a dedicated Elixer fan!

I have tried several guitar strings over the years and I personally recommend these strings for my electric and acoustic guitars. The tone is fantastic and they last longer than any other strings consistently.

How long can you keep the strings in the package without using them before they will go bad? If they are in the package a couple of years before they are used, does that diminish they're effect life on the guitar?
These strings may start to diminish after a year or so of non use.
