Epiphone

collapse expand iconDescription

The Epiphone Inspired by Gibson Hummingbird 12-string acoustic-electric guitar is part of the "Inspired by Gibson" collection that closely adheres to the classic Kalamazoo style. First introduced in 1960, the Hummingbird was featured on countless classic rock records. It continues to be an inspiration for players today. This special instrument produces a clear, bright tone with a beautifully balanced sonic range.

Epiphone spec'd the Inspired by Gibson Hummingbird 12-string acoustic-electric guitar with all the right stuff. It's an all-solid-wood guitar that pairs mahogany back and sides with a spruce top. The aged vintage gloss accentuates the grain underneath.

The mahogany neck has a comfortable rounded C-profile and attaches to the body with a traditional dovetail joint. Mother-of-pearl split parallelogram inlays line the Indian laurel fingerboard, complementing the famous Hummingbird pickguard.

A 12-string that rings as true as a Hummingbird demands to be amplified for everyone to hear. Epiphone makes that easy with a Fishman Sonicore undersaddle pickup. Control the volume and tone with the soundhole-mounted Sonitone preamp.

Other features on the Inspired by Gibson Hummingbird 12-string acoustic-electric guitar include Grover Mini Rotomatic tuners, 6-ply top and 4-ply back binding, antique ivory fingerboard binding and a bone nut and saddle.

Excellent craftsmanship. Guitar stays in tune. Remember to keep it in a case and watch the humidity. This will help keep the guitar in tune.

  • Absolutely love this 12 string guitar. Hard to put it away.

I was in the store to purchase a Fender Telecaster. After my purchase, I walked back to the acoustic guitar area and played a few nice/expensive guitars. I saw this guitar in the main room and picked it up on a whim. I was very impressed with the sound, craftsmanship and beauty of this guitar. I called the store the next day and requested if the guitar could be held for me to pick up later in the day. I am so glad I did. I stop playing it when my fingers hurt.

  • Needs an advanced setup.

It's a great guitar AFTER you pay to set it up professionally. Neck needed a large truss rod adjustment. Intonation was off! Nut and saddle looked like Chinese construction. Replaced the nut, saddle and bridge pins with Graph Tech products. After paying around 200.00 for parts and setup it sounds great and plays great! I would recommend BUT after it arrives take it directly to your local shop to have it setup and dialed in.
