Noel Gallagher Riviera

Epiphone

collapse expand iconDescription

The Epiphone Noel Gallagher Riviera semi-hollow electric guitar celebrates the partnership between Noel and Epiphone with a meticulously designed signature model in a sleek wine red finish. During the early Oasis tours, Noel Gallagher played various Gibson and Epiphone guitars, but the early ’80s Epiphone Rivieras really stood out—the look and sound of those instruments gave the ultimate live experience to those seeing the ultimate live rock ’n’ roll band.

The Noel Gallagher Riviera includes many historical elements inspired by the original model. The color and finish are a close match to originals from that era, while Epiphone Alnico Classic PRO pickups ensure the sound matches the look. A SlimTaper neck is completed by the inclusion of a volute. Extra touches—such as historically accurate "E" appointments on the pickguard and truss rod cover, and a brown soundhole label—give this guitar a vintage feel. Complete with an Epiphone hardshell case, the Noel Gallagher Riviera is finished off with a replica artist signature on the back of the headstock.

If you're looking to grab that wall of guitars sound Oasis is known for then this is your guitar straight out of the box. I am a producer/songwriter and this guitar is my newest addition. I've been getting some amazing tones out of it through an AC30. Holds it's own in the studio next to American Strats and Reverends. Looking forward to seeing where I can take it sonically.

I'm a huge oasis fan, but even just for someone who wanted a fantastic semihollow guitar, this is about as good as you can get under a thousand bucks. The pickups sound great- nice and clear with no noise. The pots and tuners are smooth with just the right amount of tension. And including a hardshell case is a great touch.

  • An amazing guitar for the price.

Looks stunning and plays great. I had no trouble with the tone knobs on mine and it didn't sound flat at all. Played it through my Orange amp and sounds great.

  • Amazing Value, Great sound and playability

Action, nut and neck were great out of the box. Changed to my preferred strings and set the intonation. Great experience all around.

I grew up in the 90s and Oasis was my very first CD - Noel's playing and wall of chorded sound always caught my ear's attention. His solos were very approachable and melodic and I was hooked early. I always saw him sporting Epiphones and it informed my decision to buy my first real acoustic, an Epiphone AJ-18S back then that I still have. Epiphone have always made quality products, though this one had me nervous being made in China as opposed to Korea like Epis used to be. I can say the quality of the the fit and finish is great. No high frets or sharp fret edges. The tuners seem like they work well. The bridge adjustments were a breeze and this is my first tune-o-matic setup and my first semi-hollow body. I was disappointed that the neck isn't mahogany nor is the center block. I know they spec'd Noel's actual Japan Epi Riviera to make this tribute model, but I'm not sure what the woods are for his. Not a lot of info available. Everything is maple on this guitar. It inherently gives it a lot of brightness. I'm still getting used to that coming off Fenders and my PRS. Also, the fretboard is really disappointingly the Indian Laurel that all the cheap guitars get these days. At the current price, this guitar is NOT "cheap"! It should have a rosewood board for the price. The pickups are supposedly the Alnico Pros from Epi, but I'm not crazy about them. I've adjusted the height, but to my ear, you don't get a lot of string to string definition, especially when distorted. The sound all kind of mashes together without nuances. I hope that a pickup replacement would remedy this, though I don't know where to start. I can reasonably nail the Oasis tone, but admittedly, I'm going through my EVH which is a Fender-style amp with 6L6s instead of a Brit style Marshall with EL34s. There is a difference there, but when I push it with my OCD overdrive, it definitely has decent tone. I played all the hits on this and I'll say it can do it pretty well. I love the detailing and the silver mirror Epiphone logo is awesome. The knobs suck though - these are supposedly CTS grade pots but they feel like trash honestly. The one knob wouldn't even go past 4 until I forced it. This is the kind of junk that you unfortunately get with a Chinese made guitar - their standards for build quality are much lower than a Japan or Korea. If you can get past some of the gripes, it's still a cool guitar AND YOU GET A CASE! That is a good bit added to the cost right there. The case is a very nice quality - I was impressed with this. Even comes with keys to lock it - makes the guitar feel a bit more exclusive for the price at least.

Is there any indication from Epiphone on when those are going to be shipped? I'm going to America in November 2nd and I wonder if I pre-order one of those and ask it to be shipped to a friend's home if it will have been shipped by then.
