Epiphone Special-II GT Electric Guitar Worn Black

Description
The Epiphone Special-II GT Electric Guitar has been a staple of guitarists worldwide seeking Les Paul sound and styling for nearly 20 years. Now, Epiphone has reimagined this classic with upgraded features for modern rock and blues players. The Special-II GT delivers full, resonant tone from its mahogany body and neck, with articulate midrange and tight low end. The 650R and 700T humbucker pickups provide cutting lead tones and thick rhythm sounds with clarity and punch.
Legendary tonewoods shape your sound
The Special-II GT's mahogany back, sides and neck provide resonant, balanced tone with clear articulation. Its slim-profile neck offers fast, comfortable playability, while a rosewood fretboard enhances midrange warmth and depth. Together, these tonewoods shape well-rounded tone equally suited to rock, blues and classic rock styles.
High-output humbuckers drive your tone
The Special-II GT is equipped with Epiphone's 650R neck humbucker and 700T bridge humbucker, which provide articulate, high-output tone for solos, rhythm playing and more. The 650R neck pickup offers warm, rounded tone, while the 700T bridge pickup provides tighter low end and cutting treble for solos. Use them individually or combine for a range of vintage-voiced sounds.
Timeless looks, reimagined
The Special-II GT's worn, black finish gives this Les Paul a vintage vibe, with authentic-looking wear and aging. Chrome hardware, including Epiphone's classic trapeze tailpiece, complements the worn finish. A black pickguard provides an elegantly understated contrast. With looks and tone that evoke the golden age of rock, the Special-II GT lets you craft classic sounds at an unbeatable value.

Darn, Not too late
This guitar is NOT "The Exact same thing... but with a WHAMMY this time!!". It is a completley different guitar than the Special II. It has a solid Mahogany Body instead of Basswood, which calls for more sustain, 2 A Humbuckers, and a Pushkill, which is basically a Killswitch built into a volume or tone knob. Very Dynamic guitar.

Overall, happy.
Quick. Pros: Sounds great. The dual humbuckers give you more of an edge. I've played all kinds of music on this thing, sweet high notes to roaring low notes, and it handles them well. To me, the fretboard is smooth, and with good strings it's easy to play what you want. Cons: There are some issues. At the price, the guitar is definitely worth it, but keep these in mind. Low sustain. Compared to my old cheap Fender/Squire Bullet, the sustain is actually less. Tuning. The stock tuners on this are not good. Mixed with the tremelo, the guitar tuning will be annoying. Period. You'll be messing with tuning the thing a lot more than you would if you bought a $499+ guitar. However, at the price, you can buy new tuners, and just deal with it. Conclusion: At the price, you can't not buy the guitar. It's an Epiphone, with dual humbuckers. It has minor issues, as most cheaper guitars do, but the smoothness and sound make the guitar legendary for beginner/intermediate guitarists.

The most useless tuners I've seen in 60 years of buying guitars. It's immoral to waste raw materials on such useless garbage. But the guitar itself is an amazing value. Truly.

the things that i would i like are for one the trem, and the thing body. the guitar is an lip with a strat thickness. the things i dislike about it is that the fretboard doesn't match the body but that's just me.
It's an Epi - make no mistake about it!

Very solid guitar, weight balance is good. Satin finish on the neck makes playing smooth. Kill pot does exactly what it's supposed to do - very cool. Pickups are good, great tones in the Treble position. Rhythm section is a bit muddy, but still usable. Pearloid inlays makes this a must-buy!

The fretboard is pictured and described as rosewood but looks more like Pau Ferro to me, compared to the GTs from 2017 or earlier. However, the neck is smooth, frets are well dressed with no buzzing issues, and easy to play overall. Electronics function as they should. The trem is usable with some help from lubricated saddles and nut (I had some Graph Tech parts lying around).

This bridge is exclusive to Epiphone so the bar would have to be special ordered. Give us a call at 866-498-7882 and we can get you set up.submitted6 years ago
