These are clearly cheaply made. In 30 years of playing I've never had a strong tail on me WHILE I was stringing my bass. Frankly I feel ripped off. I wanted to like these because I like a heavy string but I'll spend for a better quality set next time. Avoid.
Awesome for drop tuning.

Installed on my 4 string ibanez soundgear bass. Great response, tone, as mentioned above great for drop down tuning. They are suitable for longer scale, I can get to about C# but any lower (on top "E" string). It gets a little loose and buzzy (on 34" scale with minor adjustments)
It was ok

It was mostly my trashy bass that was the problem but the strings are fine and they play nicely and give a nice punch.
Great product, great gauge

I play bass with a pick, and I use the bottom two strings in the Ernie Ball Beefy Slinky Bass for reduced sustain to provide a more muted and compressed tone.

Bought a set for one of my basses that I got set up for Drop C and Drop B. I'm glad Ernie Ball finally made these for the bass. I know most people usually would just buy a set of 5 string regular slinky bass strings and use the lowest four strings and you get the exact same gauges. But, finally having a set of these for four string saves you a couple of bucks. Tone is great. Bright but still deep with a nice punch. The same you would expect from any other slinky strings just with a really heavy gauge. Used to use Power Slinky for low tunings. These heavier gauges make it even better to play as low as Drop B with more consistency and without any flobbiness on the strings. A much higher tension on the strings being tuned down that low. Definitely will buy these again when these get old and worn out. if you're looking for a little higher gauge than this (maybe for Drop A), you can always buy a 5 string set of Power Slinky and you can get a 70-135 gauge using the lowest 4 strings which is literally just 5 higher on each string than the Beefys. Hope Ernie Ball makes another set with 70-135 gauges for 4 string to save money and tune down to Drop A. Otherwise, this gauge suffices for Drop C, Drop B and you save yourself a couple of bucks. Definitely recommend these.

Does it fit into a short scale bass?, like a Fender Mustang?, do I need to adapt the nut or it fits in all 4 string bass?
You're going to need to trim them down, a lot. The nut should be okay. If it needs to be filed than it needs to be filed.submitted4 years ago

I don't need to tune super low for what I play, so are these playable in D standard?
These strings would work well for playing in D standard.submitted6 years ago

Is the 130 a tappered string, or will drilling and filing be required to accept the 130 in the bridge's and nuts of basses.
It is tapered.submitted6 years ago
