This is a great guitar for live or recording guitar players who play straight foreword and consistently throughout each song. The active EMG pickups deliver a hot signal that can be well utilized through the guitar's single volume knob but is not optimal for live situations where you may normally switch through pickups. I would say this is definitely a rhythm guitar player's guitar, so it's perfect for me... almost. I really wish the input Jack was on the face of the guitar or at least in a better position on the side of the body. The one knob on the guitar is not entirely well placed as I've found myself constantly strumming into it and lowering my volume if even just a tiny bit. This is definitely a guitar that may take getting used to, but it delivers! The ebony fretboard has a wonderfully warm sound that isn't as harsh as rosewood or pau ferró but not too bright either like maple. The guitar itself is a beautifully made and put together piece of equipment. It sounds good whether heavily distorted or clean as a whistle. I don't think someone buying this guitar would be too disappointed with its use and quality. Again, I'd say this is definitely a guitar for a rhythm player with maybe some slight leads or at least someone that won't be switching through tones and settings throughout their set.
