Description
The P02815 strings feature Ernie Ball's SuperBright Cobalt ribbon wrap and Cobalt under-wrap around an optimized hex-core, producing the smooth, mellow tone of traditional flatwounds with the clarity, punch and sustain of modern rounds. Bassists will love the P02815's fast, slinky feel and rich, complex overtones, available in gauges perfect for 5- and 6-string basses. The P02815 Extra Slinky Flatwound Bass Strings are redefining flatwound bass tone.
Cobalt Alloy Provides Power and Brilliance
At the heart of the P02815 strings is Ernie Ball's innovative Cobalt alloy, formulated to produce higher output, greater clarity and longer string life. The Cobalt ribbon wrap and under-wrap are SuperBright, attracting pickups powerfully while retaining crisp highs. The result is a flatwound string with the warm, mellow tone of traditional flats and the punch, growl and sustain of rounds.
Optimized Hex-Core Enhances Feel and Tone
The P02815 strings feature an optimized hex-core designed to work synergistically with the Cobalt wrap wire. The core and wrap are precision-gauged to the perfect ratio, enhancing flexibility, vibration and tonal richness. Bassists will love the slinky, fast feel of the P02815 strings and their complex overtones, with warmer lows, richer mids and clear, ringing highs.
Vintage-Inspired Gages for Authentic Tone
Available in .040, .060, .070, .095 gauges, the P02815 strings are designed to produce an authentic vintage flatwound tone. The lighter .040 and .060 gauges provide a flexible, slinky feel, while the heavier 70 and 95 gauges produce a solid, punchy low end. Together, these gauges create perfectly balanced tension and tone.

Bear sounding flat thay sound close to round wounds. Been using these for years. And they last longer than rounds. Well, for me anyway.
They're like roundwounds, but without the finger noise

These are as close to the tone of round wounds in a flat wound string that I m aware of. There's nothing "wrong" with these strings other than I was hoping for more of a flat wound tone. These are not as smooth to the touch as Fender 9050's, but are by no means sticky or grabby.
I would buy again
