The Ernie Ball Slinky Story - Celebrating 60 Years

Ernie Ball: String Alloy - Nickel Wound Slinkys on the Cutlass SSS

Description
Ernie Ball's Skinny Top Beefy Bottom Slinky electric guitar strings offer players the best of both worlds—effortless playability and robust tone. The Skinny Top Beefy Bottom Slinkys combine Ernie Ball's popular Regular Slinky set with slightly heavier bottom strings for thick, punchy bass and chord tones, while the thinner top strings retain comfortable bendability and articulate lead tones.
Thinner Top Strings Enable Fluid Soloing
The Skinny Top Beefy Bottom Slinkys feature gauges of .010, .013 and .017 for the top three strings—providing a slinky feel and bright, cutting tone ideal for melodic lead lines and string bending. The lighter top end, coupled with Ernie Ball's specially tempered tin-plated high-carbon steel and patented winding, gives players a familiar Slinky tone with enhanced clarity and articulation.
Beefier Bottom Strings Add Fullness
Where the Skinny Top Beefy Bottom Slinkys differ is in their wound strings. Gages of .032, .044 and .054 provide a fuller low end with richer overtones and longer sustain. The hex-shaped steel core and nickel-plated steel wrap wire produce a warm, balanced tone with prominent fundamentals. The beefed-up bottom end is perfect for laying down rhythm tracks or playing chord-driven music where thicker strings are preferable.
A Heritage of Tone and Innovation
For over 50 years, Ernie Ball strings have been the choice of legends and have fueled the signature sounds of rock, blues, metal and more. Ernie Ball pioneered the customization of string gauges to suit players' unique needs and continues to push the boundaries of tone. The Skinny Top Beefy Bottom Slinkys are a testament to Ernie Ball's commitment to innovation and meeting the demands of modern guitarists. Experience the difference Ernie Ball strings can make in your playing.

My first set of slinky too beefy bottoms and I dig em. I'm a bedroom player with the occasional jam sesh. So I tend to tune around a bit. These make it to go in and out hybrid drop D'z and C'z or whatever the beer tells me. I'm gonna put the heavy bottom set on my Jackson next week.
Great for tuning stability and recording

#sweepstakes These are great for recording. The heavier gage helps keep the tuning stability while playing and recording parts. They even fit on a stock factory nut without modification.

I tried these strings for C# tuning and grit just great!. They feel right in terms of tension and attack, the price and quality are great too. I had tried other brands before around that price and I think Ernie balls always deliver a great quality. I love the light too strings for solos.
