Evans EMAD series features a 10-mil of single-ply film providing an ideal balance of punch, power and low end. The innovative Externally Mounted Adjustable Damping (EMAD) system allows the player to adjust attack and focus. This version features a tom hoop to accommodate metal flange counter hoops.

    Professional jazz bassist, amateur jazz/folk drummer. The Evans EMAD head is doing the job well, installed just fine on a BD conversion of my stock beginner Ludwig Backbeats 16" tom. Light just past finger tight tension. I still use a towel light muting on the stock reso head, which is fine for now. And the 16" BD sound works for me!

    wide tuning range...lowers the fundamental tone of the drum. makes it sound like an 18. I coupled this with a black Hydraulic front head with a felt strip and it has an incredible sound
