EVANS

collapse expand iconDescription

Hydraulic Glass drum heads from EVANS feature two plies that sandwich a thin layer of oil and give the fat, wet sound that was pioneered in the '70s. The oil decreases sustain and enhances attack and low end.

Again, I really like the sound these hydraulic heads give on my Tama kit. They really help deepen the smaller toms. 8", 10", 12", 14" &16" toms all sound great. Don't need much dampening at all for live work. Will have to wait and see on recorded stuff. If you want that deeper sound, these are the ones to get.

I have used these hyd heads for what must be 20 years or more. These things take that "ring" out of the drum quite nice and as mentioned in the listing, it gives your drums a fat sound. I swear by these heads and when others play on my kit they always say how nice my drums sound. I tune them and as with any drum, from time to time a little twist on the rod is needed. They last forever, not kiding here, I have had some for 5 years and only replaced them because I felt it was time. They are nice and quiet when playing jazz type and powerful if really laid into. You can't go wrong with these heads, give them a try and like myself and many others I have showed these to, they love them and you will too. I play a 25 piece vintage ludwig/zildjian kit...50 year old plus, sweet zildjians!

The description lists this as a tom pack, but I don't have a 14" tom. Could I use it for the snare? I apologize if this is a dumb question; I'm new.
