EVANS

collapse expand iconDescription

The EVANS Min-EMAD Tom and Snare Dampener attaches with Velcro dots to both the drum head and rim to control overtones by controlling head vibration. The dampener consists of a fabric bridge linking the resonant head with an inert metal counterhoop. Use of the EVANS dampener produces a focused, unchoked tone. Attach close to the rim for minimal dampening; away from the rim for increased dampening.

Excellent product. Worked well at removing unwanted overtones, especially with my snare drums.

I have been drumming for around 20 years and tend to switch heads, cymbals, tuneing etc etc often depending on if I am live, in the studio, or just practice and depending on what type of music I am playing and I cant find a good use for these. They dont stay on well, they dont do anything for heavy heads and dont do much on light heads either. Use about anything other than these.

i bought the set of min-emads which came with 2 smalls, 2 medium, and 2 large min-emads. i bought the set because i already had one on my snare drum when i bought it and it really got rid of the ring. but when i put it on my rack toms (8, 10, and 12''), they made the toms sound terrible. and they dont do much for the floor toms either. i had to put 2 min-emads on the batter and reso heads and i also put a ring dampener on it, in order to stop the ringing. and the worst part is that they dont stay on! i'm going to try moongel next, and get rid of the min-emads.

  • Perfect for elimating that annoying ring

I just bought the ocdp x-series snare, all the reviews on it said it was awesome besides the excessively sustained ring it had. So i picked up the min-emad with it and after messing around with it in a few different configurations I got the ring to go away nearly completely! I love it! it doesn't take away from the warmth and tone of the drum at all. I will definately be buying two more of these for my floor toms by the way, it comes in small medium and large, I have the medium.

These things really are perfect for any style or sound. You can adjust them to get different tones which is a plus. You don't need to pay expensive money for other dampeners, these are as high quality as any other ones. Plus they are very easy to set up and adjust.

I got these thinking that they would be great and I would get the sound I wanted. But they ouldn't stay on. So after a while i decided that they are not worth the money. And took them off. And replaced them with duct tape. (Which doesn't pop off)
