SoundOff Mutes allow drummers to practice on their traditional drum-sets while significantly reducing volume. They provide excellent stick response, and are durable enough for the heaviest hitters. SoundOff mutes come in a variety of sizes for drums and cymbals and can be used across an entire drum-kit. They are available for purchase in pre-configured packs or as individual mutes for any type of drum setup.

I have had this awhile but due to back issues wasn't able to play for about 7 months. Recently started playing it again, and within a week of some pretty normal use both extending brackets used to attach the device to the drum rim have snapped clean off. I will be contacting the manufacturer about this issue, but just beware it's not a great product.

  • definitely quiets things

The toms are quieted to the point they barely have a discernable difference to them. The snare is just a dull thud, not even much of the snare. The bass drum is maybe 30% quieter than without the pad. The cymbal mutes are just awful, and sound like you are hitting a giant chunk of plastic, absolutely no resemblance to a cymbal whatsoever.

Due to my current living and financial situation, I am unable to play my Tama birch walnut drums and can't afford to rent out a practice space to do so. I bought this hoping that it would put me in a perfect compromising position to practice without noise complaints but sadly that did not come to be. While the drums are not as loud as they would be unmuted it's not enough and still loud and boomy enough to be heard from other rooms (especially the kick drum), they might as well call them low end pads because they do mostly that. Not only that but the feel on all of them are pretty clunky and have almost no rebound. As for the cymbal mutes, the only one that does a somewhat decent job of what it's supposed to do is the ride mutes. I used the 20" for a crash and got an extra 22" separately for my ride and they both for the most part function decently despite being clicky if you play from the bow. The hi hat mute has the same design and has the same issue + the fact that the bottom hat doesn't have it's own mute so you still get a noticeable amount of volume. And as for the rest of the cymbal mutes that look like foam suit ties that go over the cymbal, they're practically the equivalent of a cymbal choke without using your hand. I also have ones placed on my 18" China and 16" stack and they barely work. Why they didn't use the same or similar design that they used for the ride and hi hat mutes I'll never understand because those would work significantly better as crash/china/stack mutes. Overall for the most part these mutes don't do the job for me and I'll have to look into an alternative method. If you're in a similar situation as me then you're better off getting something like mesh heads or low volume cymbals (which is something I was trying to avoid but seems I'll have to do). As much as I love the Evans/D'addario brand this is one of their weaker products and I hope they would be able to be receptive & make improvements to them in the near future.

I ordered this mute set for practice/teaching. Overall I am very impressed with the quality of all the mutes...drums and cymbals. These cut the volume dramatically without sacrificing stick response or playability. Extremely easy and quick to install. I rated the set 4 of 5 due to the intense rubber smell from caused by the cymbal mutes. My drum studio smells like a tire showroom... hopefully windows left cracked overnight will fix this. If not for this issue this set would have been rated 5!
