'68 Custom Princeton Reverb 12W 1x10 Tube Guitar Combo Amp with Celestion Ten 30 Speaker Black

Fender '68 Custom Princenton Reverb
Description
The '68 Custom Princeton Reverb is Fender's modern take on the legendary late-60s Princeton Reverb combo amp. Loaded with a modified tone circuit and 10" Celestion TEN 30 speaker, this 30W all-tube amp delivers greater tonal versatility and a distinct rock 'n' roll flavor. The reduced negative feedback also provides increased touch sensitivity and quicker overdrive.
Modified Tone Circuit Offers Enhanced Versatility
The '68 Custom Princeton Reverb's modified tone circuit provides you greater control over your tone when using effects pedals. Roll back the tone for a warmer, bassier sound or crank it up for brighter highs. This amp handles pedals beautifully, allowing you to craft your signature sound.
10" Celestion Speaker Delivers Punchy Rock Tone
The '68 Custom Princeton Reverb is equipped with a single 10" Celestion TEN 30 speaker, specially designed to emphasize midrange frequencies important for cutting through a mix. The TEB 30's punchy and aggressive tone is perfect for rock, blues and alternative styles. You'll get rich harmonic overtones at lower volumes and satisfying breakup at higher gains.
Reduced Negative Feedback Increases Sensitivity and Overdrive
Fender reduced the negative feedback on the '68 Custom Princeton Reverb, resulting in greater touch sensitivity and faster overdrive. Notes will bloom more dynamically in response to your playing and natural tube overdrive will kick in quicker when you dig in. The interactive feel and tube saturation are highly responsive to pick attack and volume changes.
Vintage-Inspired Styling
The '68 Custom Princeton Reverb's Silverface cosmetics pay tribute to the iconic late-60s Fender amps. It features the same style of control panel, knobs and silver-turquoise grille cloth for a vintage-inspired look. The aluminum trim and chrome accents complete the retro styling.

Classic Fender Tube Break Up with Blowing the Roof Off!
I upgraded to the 68' Princeton from a Fender Blues Jr. The Blues Jr was good at what is meant to do, but the break up left a little to be desired. I set out looking to get a vintage SF or BF Fender, but the challenge would be volume. I stumbled across this little Princeton at GC and gave it a whirl. Immediately after plugging in a Tele and hitting it hard I was sold. This amped is voiced a bit different than the Princeton ReIssue. The Break Up occurs earlier and the amp sounds more Bassman like. You can still get that great Fender Clean sound and of course real Fender Reverb! Very Versatile, I have ben using it for White Stripes, Black Keys, Nirvana, RHCP, Classic Rock, etc... So glad Fender came out with this beauty. It fills in the gap where a low wattage amp gets classic Fender Tube AMP cranked qualities without having to play in a stadium. Of course you could get a vintage Champ, or Princeton, but having a brand new AMP at 1/2 the cost of the Boutique amps and with no reliability concerns of a vintage. I just couldn't pass it up. Fender hit a hime run.

Not sure
It stopped working after a month. Very loud buzzing can be heard in the last recording with it, and then the next time i turned it on, its just a weak fizzling sound on highest volume. It just died. One month. Can't be normal, surely isnt, but thats all i have to offer at this moment.

You cannot judge any tube Fender amp without opening them pass 4-5 up to 10. I use it without any pedal, I love the sound as is. Gorgeous sound full of fat mids. Still too loud for practicing in small room without an speaker attenuator, but real nice if you can open it as it's meant

Funny how novices are loosing money buying and trying the wrong gamut. I did this a lot on several amps and pedals and it was an expensive ride. I despise distortion pedals. I own very good old school effect pedals but I have been looking for amps with great tone and crunch for a while now. I'm primarily a Bass player and an acoustic guitar player. I've been learning electric guitar adding modest lines in my recording. I was never happy with entry level tube Marshall or Peavey amps or the Mexican Fender amps. I was very impressed by the 65 Deluxe Reverb and it became my reference but I was not able to use it to its full potential and ended up with SuperSonic which had decent distortion at lower volume but lacked the tremolo and shimmering of the Deluxe Reverb. Then I heard the 68 Custom Fender amps. I finally got a 68 Custom Princeton Reverb a few weeks ago along with a Tone King Ironman II Mini attenuator. Now I finally dig the tone, dynamic and crunch I was looking for without hurting my ears. It has the thickness and warmth I was looking for even for the smallest strings. It does not have the glassy tone of the 65 Reissue though. I'm getting one as well with a 12 speaker. With these two Princeton amps (65 and 68 Custom), I will be able to do everything I need. It's fortunate there are tons of good reviewers on Youtube to show these products because Fender, Ampeg and Sweetwater own reviews are really not convincing. The American 65 Vintage Reissue, the American 68 Vintage Modified and the American Hand Wired are all great value amps.

I use this amp as a home unit. The sound is great even at low volume and can handle pedals well. The tone is perfect and easy to use in my home. I initially was concerned about issues with it but a phone call easily cleared up what i was doing wrong. The rich tone of this amp helps improve my playing experience.

What blems am I likely to see on a Fender Princeton that's marked down for blems? Is there any warranty with that?
Unfortunately, we have no way of knowing what the blemish is. However, it would only be a minor cosmetic flaw and would not effect the amplifiers functionality. It also comes with the manufacturer's warranty.submitted7 years ago
