collapse expand iconDescription

Since its debut more than 60 years ago, the Fender Jazz Bass V has undergone constant refinement to meet the needs and desires of the working musician. The American Professional II Jazz Bass V may be one of the most complete evolutions of this time-tested, player-proven bass yet.

Bringing touches previously reserved for Custom Shop instruments to a production bass makes this a very special player. The body is lightweight roasted pine—no matter how long your set or session, your shoulders will thank you. With a smoothly rolled fingerboard edge, sculpted neck heel and a satin neck finish that feels almost naked, it's an incredibly comfortable bass to play. Freshly revised V-Mod II Jazz Bass V single-coil pickups add articulation and warmth to the punch and clarity the Jazz Bass is known for.

A new 5-saddle HiMass Vintage bridge can be loaded string-thru or as a hardtail. Combined with the roasted pine body, this makes for a very resonant instrument.

Totally familiar but subtly different, the American Pro II Jazz Bass V is an instant classic. Fender may well have created a new standard in production basses with this one. Includes deluxe molded case.

I received the bass and played it two days later for three sets at church. It played really well out of the box with no setup tweaking by me. I will continue to play it like that until I find something I need to change but the medium action actually works for me. The tone is killer and the pickup are quiet, even when the bridge or neck pickup is used on its own. The five string is as light as my four string as a result of the roasted pine so I had no problem playing it for several hours. The neck is amazing both in shape and finish and the maple fretboard looks and sounds amazing. The B string plays nice. If you love passive J basses, this is a fantastic way to go.

I'm a semi-pro musician that plays bass guitar in a Baptist Church and in two Reggae Bands, ministering and performing every weekend all year round. My instruments range from a 1998 Modulus Q5, Ernie Ball Sting Ray HH 5 from 2020, to a Peavey Foundation 2000 5 string, and a few in between. I played a dear friend of mines passive US made Jazz Bass, not sure of the era, and fell in love with the tone and simplicity. I only wanted a high-end American made instrument and purchased this bass sight unseen. All I can say is PERFECTION! For me at least. First, Fender has really outdone themselves here. This bass is well balance when standing, a tiny bit neck heavy when sitting, but I have worse, and even those don't bother me. Everything else is Ideal. neck feel, flexible tone from these pickups, etc., and not to mention Gorgeous. I must say, "I have no affiliation with Fender whatsoever". In fact, once vowed to never buy a Fender. I won't get into why, but we both have a record of our correspondence. That said, at this point, I Will Be purchasing a new Fender P-Bass shortly, and only from, from Guitar Center.

What's the difference between the C and D necks?
I grew up playing Fender basses and I am considering a Fender 5 string jazz bass for my next purchase. Currently I play a Lakland 5502 5 string bass.
Thanks.

I’m very sorry. Your question is not clear. This doesn't have a "D" shape. A "D" is a bit thicker in the back. Gibson v Fender. I've never heard of a Fender with a "D" neck. You grew up playing Fender. This is a Jazz bass.
