Great tuners

I have a fender Tele that had the old vintage tuners on it and I got tired of those because they don't stay in tune. I put these on and it is so much better. These are great tuning machines. The only thing is if you have vintage tuners like I did, they might not fit the holes on your neck at first, so you might have to make them bigger.

I would also like to add.......

I bought these tunners to put on a my old USA Stratocaster thinking they would be the same as my new American made stratocasters tuners. There not!!! Why do they have to screw up a good thing? I've bought these in the past and never questioned the quality or anything. But now that Fender has so many guitars made in different countries, it's really hard to tell what is USA made or if its made in some other country. I try to always buy USA made everything because its usually better made. But it's way too confusing with all these Indonesia, China, Mexico, Japan guitars and parts.IM starting to not trust fenders parts anymore because I don't think anything is made in the US. Because they use the same parts on so many different guitars, I think we the consumer are having to pay the price by drilling our beautiful guitars and dealing with low questionably quality. The whole thing is not cool as far as I'm concerned.

These tuners work very nice on all the guitars I have installed them on. These are a nice upgrade from the standard tuners that are installed on most Fender Style imports. The large holes on a guitar may have to be enlarged and the small screw holes from the old tuners may have to be plugged and re drilled. Just be aware that you may have more work to do than just removing and installing these new tuners. I do wish that Fender offered tuners with a 18:1 gear ratio though. But until they do I will keep on using these.

In a case like this we recommend having a qualified guitar tech look at the guitar to assure proper screw hole alignment and post width.

These tuners would not work for an acoustic electric guitar.

Most instruments will require the shaft hole to be enlarged (25/64" drill bit gets you real close) plus the anti-rotation studs need two 3/32" holes.

The post would fit but if it's replacing the type of tuners with the support arm that is screwed the holes for which would be left behind. So It will fit but require some modification.

To update the stock Fender tuners on my 1979 Strat, will I have to drill bigger holes in the headstock for these? I have installed some of these before on a M.I.M. Strats. I over -tightened the nuts with a socket wrench and cracked 2 of them.

It depends on the tuners you have on them. If they are stock then no, but you may have to drill the support screw holes in a different spot. But if the tuners have been replaced before you may need more modifications on them.

Will these tuners fit a squire standard telecaster without having to make modifications?

It would depend on the model. 9/10 times the worst case scenario would be drilling a new hole for the bracing arm of the tuning key.
    Open Reply - Kenneth
Yes, these will fit that model
