  • Perfect Tone, But...

Got these to upgrade my Fender MIM Jazz and sound more like the cool 60's grooves we all know and love. Very nice, clear and musical. Lots of bass and I can shape the treble and mids with my EQ as much as one could dream. Tonewise, these are everything I hoped. My "but" is that the pole pieces are flat, compared to my strings that arch to match the action from bridge through neck and nut, leaving my A and D strings a bit farther from the flat pickups than the E and G strings, so those two outside strings are noticeably louder than the two inside strings. I was surprised by the difference, as my previous pickups, while overall tonally inferior, had staggered poles to better match those distances, thus produced much more even volume across the strings.

I installed these in my Squire VM fretless after researching a lot of alternatives, ultimately after listening to plenty of comparison videos, reading a lot of reviews, and of course liking the idea of sticking with a Fender product, I opted for these. They were a perfect fit, easy to install and of course most important, they really are a great improvement to the stock pups. They are extremely quiet and deliver a very clear tone, no more muddy sounds in my lows and the highs have a nice bark. Overall, I'm very happy with this purchase.

When I was 15 in 1975, I bought my first bass, a Fender Jazz. Some years later I sold it like the foolish kid that I was. Missed it ever since. Started playing again after 30 some odd years(some were very odd). I built a Warmoth bass, neck & Jazz body(alder). I put these Fender CS 60s in it & I'm stunned! What a beautiful combination. I was practically in tears! In my opinion treble is easily had but, finding that clear(not muddy), warm, round, bluesy tone that I like has always been difficult for me. I recently paired this bass up with a new generation Fender Rumble 500 2x10 combo with a Kustom 15 inch cab & this Bass sings! As far as I'm concerned I now have a professional level sound which is consistent. This really helps your confidence level when you know you have reliable equipment that you can depend on. These pickups are an integral part of my enjoyment of playing music again. Oh yes, & the 'G' string rings out nice & clear which has been another problem that these pick ups have helped solve!

If you want amazing tone from your Fender Jazz Bass, you just can't go wrong with this set of pickups. The bridge pickup gives you more output, more growl & honk, and the neck pickup is amazing as well. No noise issues (not "silent," but no issues at all). I mostly play jazz and blues, and absolutely love these pickups. A huge upgrade from the MIM Jazz Bass pickups. Go for it!

These pick ups are it! I put these into my Carvin LB20 and WOW! What Tone! I love the way my Carvin plays, and the tone was ok when I was playing metal. But now I'm playing blues and rock n roll and these pick ups give me the organic vintage tone, that made me fall in love with bass a life time ago. Be aware that the warrentee is only good if your are a "fender service tech". If you aren't, you may want to order them through the tech that will install them. I did the work my self, and I love the tone that I'm getting now, pumping my LB20 through my new Fender Tv Duo Ten, awesome, just awesome!

I had these pickups installed, and not only was the installation half-assed, but the pickups themselves kept cutting out. Along with that, there's just too much gain, and it drowns out the good sound. Overall, very disapointed.
