Texas Special Pickups | Fender
Description
The Fender Custom Shop Texas Special Strat Pickup Set unleashes the beefy powerhouse tone that defined the Texas blues sound. These custom-calibrated, overwound single-coil pickups are designed for guitarists chasing fat, overdriven tone with extra output and chime. Packed with midrange bark and crisp high-end bite, the Texas Specials roar with attitude.
Custom-Calibrated Pickups Deliver High-Output Tone
The Fender Custom Shop Texas Special Strat Pickup Set features custom-calibrated, overwound single-coil pickups for high-output tone with extra punch and chime. The bridge pickup is hot, pushing 6.5k-7.1k ohms of output for a mighty, overdriven roar. The neck and middle pickups produce 6.2k and 6.5k ohms respectively, blending warmth and clarity. These pickups unleash the beefy, overdriven tone that defined the Texas blues sound.
Alnico 5 Magnets and Enamel-Coated Wire Produce Classic Tone
The Fender Custom Shop Texas Special Strat Pickup Set uses Alnico 5 magnets and enamel-coated magnet wire, just like vintage Fender designs. This combination produces a warm, bell-like tone with beautifully clear harmonics. The bridge pickup is calibrated for balance, pushing its high-output tone without harshness. These pickups capture the musicality of classic Fender tone while powering high-gain applications.
Reverse-Wound/Reverse-Polarity Middle Pickup Cancels Hum
The Fender Custom Shop Texas Special Strat Pickup Set features a reverse-wound/reverse-polarity middle pickup that cancels hum in positions 2 and 4. This clever design lets you access glassy, single-coil tone without the buzz and hum that high-output pickups can produce. The Texas Specials deliver noise-free tone and high output, giving you the best of both worlds.
Included White Covers Provide Classic Look
The Fender Custom Shop Texas Special Strat Pickup Set includes classic white covers for a vintage-inspired look. These covers protect the pickups and complete the iconic appearance of a traditional Stratocaster.

Custom Shop Texas Special Pickups
Made famous by Stevie Ray Vaughn that unique and beautiful tone comes to life when you plug a set of these in. The tones are beautiful and ring out giving your guitar that knarl and extra bite. I have a Mexican Strat with a set of these in it and other then the differences in the bridge i truly can not tell the difference between my foreign made strat and an american. They are also ideal for multi-styles of music such as rock, blues, country, and indie. I recomend that if you are a strat owner you invest in a set of these. They will take your playing to a whole other level.

Defective
I inspected the pickups as soon as they arrived and noticed that, on the middle pickup, one wrap of pickup wire was off the bobbin, just flapping around. Also, the outside of the packaging box was worn, scuffed.

I put these Texas Special Pups in a Squier Classic Vibe. Yesterday I was selling a Fender Chris Stapleton '62 Princeton RI amp. Yeah, I know bummer. Long story. The gentleman borrowed my Classic Vibe and proceed to play a little of everything. Rock, Jazz, blues, lots of tapping. The pups sounded fantastic from my listening point of view. To my ears, the Texas Specials just sounded "right", just like a Strat should sound. There were some nice tones coming out of the Fender amp. I'll never sell the Classic Vibe with these pups. The tone of it covers a lot of ground. Still mourning the Stapleton sell though.

Been using fender and other brands of noiseless single coils on my strats and telle. I find that the fender vintage noiseless are my preferd noiseless pick ups. reasonably priced and consistent. Have recently been yearning for more original strat sound. Well, we all know what that texas sound implies. so it only made sense to go with the texas specials. Loaded up a new pick guard with the texas specials, switch, and pots. Loaded it into my 60th anniversary deluxe. Dialed in the pick up height, and away we go. very satisfied with the sound. Have a blond bassman head that i never thought was giving its all with the noiseless pick ups. It really came to life married to the deluxe with the texas specials. Made for each other. Not going to get rid of my other strats but really like switching it up with the texas special loaded guitar. Noiseless technology has come a long way but there is only one way to get the real deal.

I wish I bought them years ago. I have seven Strats and one of them my Elite I never liked the sound of. Came with a Shawbucker and noiseless IV that I went through periods of like and dislike till I finally started to tinker. Duncan SSL5 and SSL1 B&M. CS69 neck, FAT50 mid, SSL5 bridge. JB JR with Duncan stack series. A couple of others that I like in other guitars but not in the Elite. Tada! These are great for it as it's not your traditional Strat and these are pretty steamy and not your traditional single coils. I have other Strats that are a bit more traditional , some that are extremely hot and now this which I think is an excellent Rocking set that can do everything.
