Absorbs vibrations, unlike springs. Sure, you could find some rubber tubing and cut it into nubs, but hey, genuine Fender parts. Just sayin'

This is the same tubing Fender has used for years. Works perfectly just what I need to install my pickups.

Ever have it where you were just jamming along, really getting into it and giving your guitar a thrashing, only to have the sound be not as good as your playing? Think about this here. You have large magnetic coils, and then immediately next to them, mount metal parts with the ability to move and flex. Does that sound like a smart idea? Thats why Fender has their Pickup tubing. No metal here to interfere. Also, these aren't quite as springy as your stocker springs, so the pickups wont waver back and forth if you bang on it. I use only these rubber tube bushings when mounting pickups because sometimes its the little things, that when put together, help make the better guitar.
