Pretty Nice But Not Perfect

I bought and returned one of these. They look great and sound pretty good on their own but, in the mix, don't deliver on the bottom end like a P-bass should, IMO. And it can't be EQ'd in. The pickups do have a strong midrange. My references are the Fender Custom Shop '62 and the Fralin in my other two P's. I considered keeping it to change out the pickups, but although the fret ends were rolled as promised, this one had terrible fret sprout, like little protruding needles, over both sides of the neck. I don't think this was due to dry wood, because the finish up over the ends was unbroken. I didn't feel like dealing with that since I already have two other basses of this type. If I didn't, I'd have kept it and swapped out pickups and maybe the bridge for higher mass (maybe that alone would remedy the low-end weakness), and filed down the fret ends for a nice bass at a very reasonable price.

What a great bass Fender has produced. Gorgeous Ocean Turquoise is a real eye catcher! Plays beautifully and has that classic Fender P Bass tone. Frets are perfect and I cant find a single fault with this instrument. So glad I got it. Get you one too!

I got mine in store and they only had one left and it wasn't on the floor. After the associate brought it out we unboxed it and it played INCREDIBLE without needing a setup. After I bought it I gave it a proper setup and it might be my new favorite bass in the studio. #sweepstakes
Would buy again in a heartbeat

This puppy was a steal on Black Friday and a big upgrade from my old Squier. Plays super smooth, sounds great, built solid. Added a good setup and some flat wound strings and it's even better.
