Installation worked as advertised - not difficult and worked first time without further adjustments. Could use some high-quality instrument patches - had to buy them from Big Fish. Can do a fine quality impression of horn or string section for us keyboard non-experts, but need the sounds. I do not use the iPad app, just use it in DAW.

  • Excellent product when set up properly

I have been playing midi guitar live and in the studio since 1986, and have focused mostly on Roland gear. I've owned and/or used almost every guitar synth product Roland has made. I've also spent a lot of time with Midi Guitar 2, but it still did not give the tracking and lack of glitches I want. After reading all the glowing reviews on the Fishman TriplePlay, I decided to give the less expensive Connect a shot. In a nutshell, the Fishman Connect is the best guitar to midi product I have ever used from a playability perspective. The setup is relatively simple, and the response is unbelievably good for such an inexpensive product. In the past one constant I have seen is the best playable midi guitar solution is a Roland product with its internal sounds, all Roland midi out only worked well with slow attack sounds. But the Fishman Connect, paired with VSTs, has an even better response with fewer glitches and unwanted notes. The dynamics are good, and the playing technique control works extremely well. The iOS app works extremely well, FAR better than I had anticipated. But I plan to use the Connect with a Windows based DAW, and it works well with that also. The Windows software is still a bit clunky, but can be used effectively with a bit of patience. One thing to remember is the Connect settings entered in software are retained when the Connect is used as a standalone input device. You have to open the Connect software to change the Connect settings, then exit it and go back into your DAW. Final summary; the Fishman Connect is a wonderful piece of gear at a great price. It is so good I would trust it in live performance, and have lost all interest with my Roland gear (which will soon be sold). It's not as great as a physical solution than Midi Guitar 2 (a non-hardware solution), but works better ultimately. It's the way to go for midi guitar IMHO unless you need wireless connectivity.

We had it installed by a guitar tech so that it would be done correctly. It is an amazing addition to our sound. We now have 15-20 more instruments to choose from, and they are all "scary accurate"! We have a small group called "Two Man Band", and with the addition of this midi controller, we can now sound like 5 or 6 musicians. We are also using it in the studio to lay down organ, piano and horn tracks.....and they sound real. No need to go find someone that skillfully plays those instruments....we can make them happen by playing a guitar. The iPad app has more features than we would ever need, but it is easy to use. Check us out on Facebook to see how the device works.

This one is going to take some work and time to figure out. Hopefully it will be fun and ultimately worthwhile. This is the wired version so I had to buy cables to connect the iPad to the amp.
