Can I put this bridge as a direct replacement for a guitar that has an Ibanez Edge III? do I need to modify or rout anything? or can I just make it a direct drop in.

Replacing an Ibanez Edge III tremolo with a Floyd Rose 1000 Series Pro Tremolo System is not a direct drop-in replacement and will require modifications. Key Differences: Post Spacing: The Edge III has a post spacing of approximately 73mm, while the Floyd Rose 1000 Series Pro has a spacing of 74mm. This 1mm difference means the mounting studs do not align perfectly, necessitating adjustments. Routing Dimensions: The Floyd Rose 1000 Series Pro is a low-profile tremolo system that requires a specific cavity route. The existing cavity for the Edge III may not accommodate this without modification. Considerations: Stud Compatibility: Even if the post spacing were similar, the threading of the mounting studs may differ, preventing the use of existing studs. Cavity Modification: To fit the Floyd Rose 1000 Series Pro, the guitar's body cavity will likely need to be routed to match the tremolo's dimensions.

Yes, you can use a Floyd Rose 1000 Series Pro Tremolo System with an R2 locking nut, but whether it fits well depends on a few important factors related to your guitar’s neck. Floyd Rose 1000 Series Pro This is the Korean-made version of the Original Floyd Rose, with the "Pro" variant having a narrower string spacing and low-profile saddles. The string spacing on the Pro model is around 10.0 mm E-to-E, compared to 10.8 mm on the standard version. R2 Locking Nut Nut width: 1.625" (41.3mm) String spacing: .256" (6.5mm) Typically used on guitars with narrower necks, often 1 5/8” at the nut Mounting screw spacing: 1.45" (36.83mm)
