  • BIG HEAVY STRINGS, FOR A BIG HEAVY SOUND.

These strings are awesome! Huge tone! I thought my sound was nice and thick before, (tuned down 2 steps to "drop C" Les Paul, EMG 85's, full stack: Mesa/Boogie Dual Rectifier, Marshall 1960 Vintage & JCM 800 cabs) Then I put these on and instantly noticed the difference. I've switched brands and gauges before and never noticed any difference in sound, only in feel. I've even tried other brands with "heavy core" wire that are supposed to be made for heavy, down tuned tone and wasn't impressed. But these things sound so much thicker and massive. Like and evil growl. They do take some getting used to. You might have to make some adjustments to the nut, bridge, tuning keys, and truss rod. And build up your calluses and finger strength a little more. But they're worth it! If you want thick heavy tone, you gotta play thick heavy strings! ~ The Reverend

These are the THICKEST strings i have ever seen. Yeah, they're a pain in the but to put on (i had to use pliers) but man once you do, these things will never go out of tune. they are by far the heaviest sounding strings i have ever used. I tune to drop A# (A# F A# D# G C) and these things hold the crunch and bottom end of low tunings perfect. I slapped them onto my Jackson randy rhoads, and they fit it perfect. The only thing you really need for them is a really high scale length and a bridge and nut adjustment.

Hey, i'm been a luthier for a while now, and when i have to set up my guitar thats in drop d but, tuned 1 and 1/2 steps down (B F# B E G# C#), i use these strings, but i omit the 11, and use 13 for C#, 17 for G# and a 24 for E. I get the fattest and chunkiest tone that sounds totally boss.

I decided to get these strings because I tend to use drop tunings a lot and seeing as I love Zakk Wylde's playing, I was curious to see what his strings were like. Let me tell you they are not for everybody. Before I put these on I had a set of the lightest ernie ball's on the market on my les paul. My neck was in for a big suprise when I slapped the Zakk Wyldes on, but with a little truss rod tweek and a bridge adjustment it played amazing. They are pretty thick and the E string doesnt really fit into the nut very well but I can live with it. All and all, very good strings, especially for metal but are not for everybody.

Zakk Wylde Lo-Tunes are the greatest strings for metal ever made. They are perfect for dropped tunings. I have them on every guitar I use. I'm tuned to dropped A on my Dean ZX, dropped B on my Epiphone FR Les Paul and dropped D on my Jackson Randy Rhoads. Buy them if you love heavy, metallic goodness.

I've had these string for a day now. They are kinda hard to play, but like these other people said, you get used to the thickness of the strings. Overall, i like these strings, i just hope that 70 gauge doesnt snap my neck.
