These strings in Mediums are wonderful, Lights and Ultra Lights which are the only gauges that Guitar Center stocks are worthless except for filling up trash cans. They don't have enough tension on the guitar to get the top moving so it can produce good sound. If you have a guitar specifically made for light gauge strings that is lightly braced and has a very thin top, they should work out well, for normal guitars they are pretty much worthless except for those sissies who haven't developed any callouses on their fingers. If you have a guitar that is not made for medium strings or was made in the very early 20th Century before let us say 1910, find a retailer who stocks mediums in this string, GHS Vintage Bronze Mediums produce a warm sound with good presence on normal guitars, they are especially good for guitars that are too loud and need some of the edge taken off the sound, they are my strings of choice if and only if I can get mediums. Guitar Center will order mediums, but they want to charge over $8.00, to me this constitutes a rip off, I am going to have to go to the competition. I am by the way an experienced picker, I've been picking since 1953.
