Gamechanger Audio Third Man Records Plasma Coil Black

Description
The Plasma Coil is a revolutionary way of producing distortion by converting your instrument’s signal into a series of high-voltage plasma discharges in a sealed xenon-filled tube. The result is a sharp and sizzling overdrive that’s clear, responsive and, most importantly, fun. This patent-pending technology of high-voltage electric discharge also acts as a natural noise-gating device that creates strong contrasts between staccato notes, as well as eliminating all unwanted noise and pickup hum. The Gamechanger Audio and Third Man Records Plasma Coil’s electric discharge tube produces beautiful visible bolts of lightning that react to the input signal, creating a captivating experience for all players. In essence, it’s like playing a bolt of electricity.
Natural Noise Gate
This feature allows you to achieve extreme contrasts between individual notes by eliminating all of the in-between noises created by the instrument’s pickups or by humming strings.
Wide EQ
The Third Man Records Plasma pedal loses the original dry input signal and creates a new signal from fluctuations in the electromagnetic field surrounding the gas-discharge tube. This allows for a very wide range of frequencies. Boost and cut the lows and highs with the dedicated knobs. The EQ can be switched to affect only the wet sound or dry sound, which is especially suitable for bass.
Unique Harmonic Saturation
The Plasma pedal converts your instrument’s signal into a rapid series of electric discharges, which results in a large amount of non-linear harmonic saturation that causes extremely rich and responsive attacks, and delivers screeching sharp overtones and harmonics. These harmonic artifacts—produced as a byproduct of the high voltage discharge—are uncommon in traditional signal amplification, making Plasma Pedal’s distortion unlike anything you’ve heard before.

I've had my eye on this pedal for awhile due to it's alluring advertising that suggests it's like playing a bolt of lightning. So I saved up some extra cash because, for me, the price is kinda high for a pedal. I'm glade I did though because in my opinion, this pedal is awesome. In the description it mentions something about Jack White using it on some album and also live during a tour, so if you wanna know what it sounds like then listen to that. Some things worth mentioning about this pedal is that it is a fuzz pedal at it's heart. There are also built-in effects that you can experiment with. Gives you lots of options from just a basic volume boost to some pretty trippy modulations. Also the noise gate effect this pedal produces due to how it works is pretty cool. Depending on where you have the volume knob determines how long a note will ring out before it falls below the threshold that basically cuts the signal until you play another note or whatever. Works good for songs that have brief pauses between notes because you can actually hear the silence that should be there instead of the usual humming sound a guitar makes when you're not playing but is plugged in. But you sacrifice the ability to hold that last note of a song until it fades out. Instead it just cuts the signal not long after the note is plucked depending on where the volume knob sits. Having said all that, in summary, the bottom line would be, no, I wouldn't recommend this pedal for the majority of players I know due simply for the price. However for those special people who love exploring different realms through guitar playing then this pedal is worth checking out.
