Gard

collapse expand iconDescription

Gard Bags have long been a favorite among musicians at all levels needing quality protection at a reasonable price. The Mid-Bag Suspension series builds upon this popularity. In ordinary bags, the euphonium rests on the bottom and against the sides of the bag. If dropped, the protruding parts are likely to dent. Using strategically placed blocks of padding the Mid-Bag Suspension series "suspends" your instrument away from the sides. Further stabilizing the euphonium is a dense foam cone mounted to a hard disc on the inside of the bag. This suspension system reduces the risk of dings or dents if the bag knocks into a wall or is dropped from a short distance. Like all Gard Bags, the Mid-Bag Suspension series features a water resistant nylon or buffalo leather exterior, rugged zippers, soft interior flap to protect the instrument from the zipper, backpack straps, and shoulder strap.

This bag is extremely well made, heavy duty with good protection, and I had heard good things about the Gard bags. But I hadn't heard about issues with the bag sizes -- in either this leather model or the cordura/synthetic model. But after trying to squeeze an Adams E2 euphonium in it (310mm bell size) and a Boosey Imperial (about 11 inch), I could not get either horn in this bag. Therefore, it's going back to Guitar Center. I would recommend this bag to a friend, but this bag is too small for most 3+1 setups. Would probably work with a Yamaha 321 or a similar non-compensated euphonium.
