Gibraltar

collapse expand iconDescription

Gibraltar is now teaming up with Hamilton Stands on this unique and sturdy Bass Drum Smart Phone Mount. Smart phones are used regularly in performance and practice whether it is for playing along to music, tracks, establishing a click, or displaying a set list. The SC-BDSPM allows drummers to mount their smart phone directly to their bass drum hoop, for easy access and discreet placement. Hamilton’s scissor-action phone clamp accommodates most smart phones, and will hold it securely through stampeding bass drum stokes. Rubber grippers are placed over the scissor clamp posts to protect the phone from damage, as well as allow clear access to side buttons and ports. Use the angle adjustment arm to place the mount, so that your phone is in the optimal position for touch screen use during play. The mount is attached to the bass drum with Gibraltar’s heavy duty counter hoop clamp, so that your smart phone is securely locked in place.

The glue!! About a month after I started using this product, the glue that holds the rubber pads on the mounting section (where it attaches to the bass drum rim) completely failed. C'mon, Gibralter! The rest of the device is nice and sturdy, easy to adjust, and holds the phone securely. Why such a weak glue job? I used shoe goo to fix it, and it seems to be holding, but this is either a design or material fail!

  • Great phone holder

I was a bit nervous after I read the reviews saying that the middle pivot section falls down from the vibration. Not sure if they updated that section, but mine has worked perfect with no sagging.

  • It's definitely worth getting

I us this on a 4pc rock setup and a huge 7pc setup drum set and it sits perfectly out of the way of me playing the kit but close enough to reach to scroll through lyrics and songs while playing.

  • Good product, would be great with small improvements.

The concept is great, quality is great (other than a minor defect in my first one that GC exchanged for me), and the product functions well except for 1 aspect. The bass drum mounting bracket holds great without risking damage to the drum, and the phone holder works well as a "one size fits all" style. However, the hinge between these 2 parts isn't strong enough to be tied to something that's kicked repeatedly. This hinge constantly sags while I play. What's worse, the hinge is tightened with 2 opposing flatheads, so I can't make adjustments without 2 flathead screwdrivers on hand. This hinge should have a notched inner edge and a wingnut that I can open and close with 1 hand. If these 2 functions were in place, this would be a perfect product for me, but even so it comes in handy while I deal with the annoyances of the sagging hinge.

The first time I used it, my phone vibrated off twice so my screen protector cracked. Seems like a design flaw. A rubber band will have to be used to keep the phone from flying off
