This heavy-duty cast Deluxe Classic Snare Throw-Off is a great upgrade to a standard snare strainer throw off. It comes with mounting screws and has standard mounting holes that fit most snare drums.

Screws to attach are for a wood snare. A trip to hardware store will be needed to obtain shorter fine thread screws. Otherwise the throw works well

This is a great throw off. High quality, silky smooth action, easy to adjust. If you are looking to replace an old damaged throw off, or building your own drum, this one won't disappoint.

I used this in repairing an old snare. I knew going in I would have to drill a hole but it has worked great and it covers the old whole in the center. It is working fine I don't use the snare much its sets in my collection. I just wanted to get the old snare playable. This wasn't the only item I changed, including lugs, and rims.

  • Exactly what I needed.

This throw off was exactly the throw off I needed. It has a 1-1/2" space between the crew holes, which fit my snare drum perfectly. The only thing bad about this throw off is that if you have a steel snare, or a thinner snare, the screws that come with it are too long and it will not be locked in place. Luckily, I had the shorter screws from my throw off that broke, so this was not an issue for me. I also always had trouble getting my old throw off to unlock and let the snares down, which ultimately probably led to it breaking, but this one opens and closes very smoothly. Overall this product is exactly what you need as long as the holes fit. I couldn't see any reason in spending more money on another product that will do the same job as this product.

In my first review I stated that this product actually does not have a 2 3/4" spacing for the holes, but a 1 1/2" spacing. I looked everywhere something of that size is almost impossible to find. Gibralter does make one, but it's not this one. I couldn't find that one through any regular channels and only found it on ebay for too much cash. However, I decided to keep this one and just drill new holes in my snare drum, yah you heard that right. Drilling new holes that were MEASURED went just fine. The Throw off itself is very sturdy and I'm quite happy with it. My only complaint was that the washers on the mounting screws are permanent. You can't remove the washers and put a different size on, like the ones that go to your current snare drum. This made it difficult for me to attach the throw off to my snare that was thicker, but I still got it on just fine and it works great. Aside from the non-swappable hardware I love this product.
