    Give my snare drum a fatter sound. I use a lot of rudiments so I need a tight snary sound.

    I bought these for my 14x8 Ludwig Black Magic and I will say they complete the snare hands down without question. They allow the body of the 14x8 just sing and sound so full and deep

    Its what you like, I play heavy rock and this give a good sound. It wasn't what I was looking for but it does a great job. It is good for the heavy metal or rock band sound. Put this on a brass snare and let it rip.

    I play in a Lamb Of God/Job For A Cowboy-esque metal band and prefer a sharp crack from my snare, so I really only got this because it looks so impressive. I got it on my snare and tightened it all up, and I expected to hear a ton of uncontrollable buzz and sensitivity from it, but I was able to crank everything down on my snare and still have it be full of life. These wires would be perfect for jazz and smoother rock when you need ghost-notes and varying dynamics to your sound, but they suit much heavier styles and higher tensions just as well.
