As others have mentioned, the string spacing on this nut is a little wider than stock. It's a little more expensive, but I like the qualities it offers. It is not too difficult to shape, and doesn't clog tools like some materials can.

Good nut. Files easily and easy to fit. I've had good experience with Tusq nuts in the past. It actually works pretty well on my bass. The problem is that it doesn't fit my Fender Jazz bass. It's too wide overall, and the "E to E" is too wide. LIke I said, it works pretty well, but occasionally I'll pull a string off the side of the fret board. It'll do untill I get a replacement. I didn't realize this issue until I installed it. It's my fault. The specs are clear on GC web page, but it is the only jazz bass nut listed, so I unwittingly bought it. The reason for 4 stars. I just ordered two nuts from Fender. Tusq doesn't list the propper sized nut on their web page (that I could find).

My 1973 Fender Jazz Bass needs a nut that is 3.5 mm do you have them?
That's less than an inch. I'm sorry we have no slotted nuts of that size. You may need to trim one down. Take a loom at the "Proline Acoustic Bone Nut Blank"
