Description
Dubbed the "Swamp Dawg", the Gretsch 8-Tube Snare is a multi-faceted drum and a versatile addition to the Gretsch product line. The tuning range is expanded due to the deep 14 x 8" mahogany shell that, when tuned low, creates an open "swampy", dark, throaty, "lo-fi" timbre reminiscent of historic recordings from the '70s.

Features
- 6-Ply mahogany shell
- 30-degree bearing edge
- 2.3mm triple-flanged hoops
- Chrome hardware (8 lugs)
- Satin natural finish
- Fully adjustable throw-off with fixed buttplate
- Remo USA Ambassador heads
- 42-strand snare wires
- 14 x 8"

Fat Snare

This snare drum is fat sounding! Of course tuning is everything, but when tuned right, you can feel the low end of this snare in your guts! Really makes it's presence known under a good EQ! Would recommend and buy again!

This is a great sounding snare. I am a Professional drummer and have been playing for over a decade. For the cost this is one of the best you can get. you can tune it to be very high and responsive great for a church setting or live band. It is very deep so you can get great tone out of it. A very solid buy!

I usually go for Maple. Should I stick with it? I see most Swamp Dawg snares are mahogany. I'm seriously considering a purchase
It's worth a listen. Mahogany tends to be a bit more mellow, and it may be the sound you're looking for.
