Gretsch G2420T Streamliner: Classic Style, Modern Sound

The Gretsch G2420T Streamliner Single-Cutaway Hollowbody Electric Guitar with Bigsby Walnut Stain combines timeless Gretsch design with modern versatility. Featuring Broad'Tron humbucking pickups, a smooth-playing neck, and the iconic Bigsby-licensed B60 tailpiece, the G2420T Streamliner delivers bold tone, dynamic playability, and unmistakable vintage style. Whether you’re looking for classic Gretsch twang or rich, full-bodied sound, the Gretsch Streamliner G2420T is built to perform in any musical setting.

Broad'Tron Humbuckers for Powerful Tone

At the heart of the G2420T Streamliner are its Broad'Tron humbucking pickups, designed specifically for this model. These high-output pickups offer a tone that’s bold yet balanced, blending punchy lows, crisp highs, and a throaty midrange. They excel in band settings, cutting through the mix while maintaining the signature Gretsch sound. Shape your tone with individual volume controls for each pickup, a master volume control, and a master tone knob, allowing you to dial in everything from warm, jazzy cleans to biting rock rhythms.

Fast-Playing Neck and Reliable Bridge

The Gretsch G2420T is crafted for effortless playability. Its thin U-shaped neck and 12"-radius rosewood fingerboard with 22 medium-jumbo frets make both chords and solos comfortable and fluid. The Adjusto-Matic bridge with a secured rosewood base ensures solid tuning stability and precise intonation, even during intense playing. The combination of its neck profile and bridge design makes this guitar equally suited for beginners and experienced players alike.

Iconic Gretsch Style

The Gretsch Streamliner G2420T is a visual masterpiece, featuring classic Gretsch appointments that stand out in any setting. Gold control knobs, elegant f-holes, two-ply black-and-white body binding, and nickel hardware highlight its vintage-inspired design. The single-ply black pickguard emblazoned with the Gretsch logo adds an extra touch of sophistication, while the walnut stain finish accentuates the beauty of the arched maple top and body.

Expressive Bigsby Vibrato Tailpiece

The Bigsby-licensed B60 tailpiece is a hallmark of Gretsch guitars, offering smooth, expressive vibrato effects. Whether you’re adding subtle pitch modulation or creating dramatic swells, the Bigsby pairs beautifully with the G2420T's hollowbody construction and Broad'Tron pickups. From jazz and blues to rock and beyond, this guitar is versatile enough to handle any genre with style.

Great trade

Originally bought the Ephiphone limited edition Riviera semi hollow body guitar. It turned out to be a "hangar queen" won't stay in tune and the g string gave me nightmares. So off to the Guitar Center store I went. I played several hollow and semi hollow body guitars. This model stood out for me as the easiest and best sounding of the bunch. I brought it home and it is even better. All I did was tune her up and play it. I seriously can't put this down. As a newbie player, it made progress in learning jump ahead by leaps and bounds. Really sounds great, stays in tune and looks like a go to guitar for me for many years. It can sound like an acoustic or a heavy metal guitar assuming you have a proper amp. Give it a try, I love this guitar!

Guitar OK, but set up horrible.

I liked the guitar overall, it was a good sale price. However, this guitar should not have gone out the door in the condition that it did. The frets were horrible, so sharp on the edges it could have cut my fingers (they needed to be properly finished). The bridge was not set up correctly, and the 10-12th frets buzzed. There was no detail given to proper set up of the guitar, which I believe was more Guitar Center's responsibility to quality check it, and it was obvious that NOBODY even touched this guitar from the factory. It was a big disappointment, will probably have to pay someone to properly set the guitar up and get rid of the buzzes, and correct the poor fret job.

There's a rattle coming out of the D string. The D saddle of the adjustomatic bridge is loose. I can rock it side to side like a tiny see-saw. If I put pressure on the on the saddle the rattle stops. How can I tighten that? Clearly this guitar was not checked before going out the door. Happy to change this review once things are fixed.

  • I would but this guitar again.

I have owned or played almost every brand under the sun - 50 year player - not as in years old - Martin is grreat - Takamine is super great - Alvarez is suupper great - Gibson is ok - Washburn is good for the price point - Yamaha is good for the price point - Fender is great for electric - Taylor is great - This Gretch blew me away for a hollow body electric... at this price point - Smooth action - right out of the box - great sound - just as I had hoped for. I can't believe how lucky I was to take a chance on this being good. I was positively impressed.

  • Nice sounding

I have been enjoying my Gretsch Streamliner. Initially it seemed awkward to play as opposed to my solid body guitars. But the more I play the more I enjoy the Streamliner and it's great sound. Best for that Rockabilly sound. Only issue is a need to frequently tune, but it's a new guitar and strings so maybe to be expected.

  • My daughter is going to love it!
