Much more affordable than Gibson ES. Versatile. Nice looking. Easy to play. Stays in tune with Guildsby use. I think it's very high value- comes with hard shell case too.
Versatile guitar, well made

I own a number of top of the line solid bodies and a vintage Gibson arch top. The Guild is my go-to guitar. It's a hollow body with no center block. Delivers great jazz tones at the neck, country & funk twang/spank in the middle and Chuck Berry honk at the bridge. Definitely my most versatile guitar, the sounds are uncompromising. Really gets Chuck Berry to a T. The sound is probably closest to gibson mini-humbuckers (bell-like?) but gets a little gritty with a touch of gain. Can also go full gain while retaining a touch of twang. I like the pick-ups much better than stock gibson hum buckers - much clearer from mass to treble. Really a very wide range of tones. It's a pretty rigid build, but still lightweight. Feedback has not been a problem. Unless you are a touring musician, you can play this in any situation, and I have played it miked to a PA a couple of times with no issue.

I have been playing guitar for over 30 years. My electrics are all solid body. I have been looking for a good hollow body electric for a while. I tried a Gretsch 5420 but was not impressed with the action or tone. Salesman brought me the Guild Starfire III in Cherry Red. I was immediately happy. Played through a Fender Blues Jr and a Fender Princeton Reverb. Superb action and tone. The guitar is beautiful and super light weight. The action on the neck is one of the best actions of any guitar I own. Very enjoyable to play and the tone clean and crunch is absolutely classic. I play it through my Vox AC4, Marshall DSL 15w and the Blues Jr. So so happy I have this Guild Newark St. Starfire III in my collection.
