I was in guitar Center In Lubbock, TX and found a book from Hal Lenorad on playing bass, however the book was only vol. 1. I like the book over dvds because it has exercises in it for you to work at your own pace, where as the dvd goes from one section to the next quickly. If you are just learning bass, I would higly recommend this book.

Tablature is all great and dandy, but the ability to read sheet music is a great addition to anyones repetiour. This book covers sheet music reading, chord formation, and some slap style. New players this is a must. Veteran players might not find this book as usefull but it's allways good to have some referance material around.
