This method book is very thorough and at the same time very understandable. It allowed me to progress on my newly aquired mandolin quickly, with a complete understanding of what was being taught and why it was in that order. This method is a must have for this instrument.

This is an excellent intro to playing the mandolin. It's clear and well-paced. Even though the author is known primarily as a blues mandolin player the method is not blues oriented. It mostly uses well-know fiddle tunes to teach the basics. I'm on my second copy and I've recommended it to several others.
