Harbinger MLS1000 Personal Line Array Speaker System | Overview

Description
The Harbinger MLS1000 personal line array speaker system delivers the perfect blend of portability, advanced features and immersive sound. Designed for musicians and performers who need compact mobility, this system boasts a built-in mixer supporting up to five audio sources, including Bluetooth streaming. Its six-speaker vertical array and 10" subwoofer provide a full frequency range, while DSP-powered voicings optimize sound quality for vocals, acoustic instruments and playback. With 150° sound dispersion and floor-to-ceiling coverage, the MLS1000 speaker system ensures evenly balanced audio throughout any space. The included column bag and sub cover protect the system during transport, making it ideal for gigging musicians seeking efficiency and exceptional sound.
Built-In Mixer With Reverb, Chorus and EQ
The integrated stereo mixer offers robust functionality, allowing performers to connect multiple inputs simultaneously. Solo artists and small groups can plug in microphones, instruments, keyboards and auxiliary devices while maintaining access to Bluetooth audio. Each channel features reverb, chorus and 2-knob EQ controls, ensuring precise tonal adjustments tailored to your sound. DSP-powered voicings further refine audio performance, delivering studio-grade clarity and balance. For expanded setups, external mixers can connect to the stereo line inputs, making the system adaptable for more complex configurations. The MLS1000 simplifies mixing while delivering polished sound for live performances or practice sessions.
Wide Dispersion From Line Array Technology
Unlike traditional powered PA speakers, the MLS1000 employs line array technology to achieve superior sound coverage. Its six vertical drivers provide 150° horizontal dispersion and consistent audio levels across the room, ensuring your audience hears the same clear sound regardless of their position. The 10" subwoofer enhances bass frequencies for richer lows, while the system's design minimizes feedback—allowing you to place it near performers as both a monitor and main speaker. This innovative approach to sound delivery creates an enveloping acoustic experience, ideal for intimate venues and small to medium-sized spaces.
Effortless Portability With Included Accessories
Engineered for convenience, the MLS1000 is lightweight and easy to transport. The included column bag with shoulder strap and slipcover for the subwoofer simplify storage and carrying, while the modular design enables quick setup in under two minutes. Dedicated controls for each function ensure intuitive operation, letting you focus on performing rather than managing gear. Whether you're commuting to gigs or rehearsing, this speaker system's portability and user-friendly interface make it a reliable and time-saving choice for musicians on the move.
Smart Stereo for Unified Sound and Control
Smart Stereo technology transforms two MLS1000 units into a seamlessly integrated system. Connect all inputs to one unit, then link it to a second speaker via a single mic cable to unify control and audio routing. Volume and tuning adjustments made on the primary unit automatically apply to both speakers, simplifying stereo setups for performances or presentations. This innovative feature ensures consistent sound and effortless operation, providing performers with a streamlined solution for creating expansive stereo soundscapes.
Compact Design for Gigging Performers
The Harbinger MLS1000 personal line array speaker system caters to musicians who value portability, efficiency and high-quality sound. Its lightweight construction, protective covers and modular setup make it ideal for artists traveling to gigs or rehearsals. Whether you need balanced sound for solo performances or immersive audio for small ensembles, the MLS1000 delivers the clarity and functionality required to elevate your stage presence.

Perfect for me
I'm a long-time player/singer, so I needed something light and easy for my medium venues. I'm over 70, and didn't want to invest a lot of coin. I've heard Bose, am unimpressed.I played my first gig with it, outside patio restaurant, capacity about 45.The audience said my vocals were clearer than my bigger PA, guitar sounded fine. I did hear a bit of the "boxy" vocals, as some have described, but didn't really take time to play with the EQ much during the performance. It was much less noticeable out front. Everyone was pleased, so I was, too. I added a mixer at home, which eliminated the the " boxiness." Then I ran without the mixer after the gig, I tweaked the EQ some more, switched to a 58 mic, and no boxy sound. I am pleased with it, sound, ease of set up, extra space afforded on stage—and in my vehicle. Four stars, only because I had to return the first one, the column pieces were misaligned and didn't fit. GC was very helpful with this, Lakota facilitated a replacement within 3 days. Great job, GC. I recommend the MLS1000. It seems of good quality, am pleased with the sound on my first gig. I am not concerned with resale, trusting it will last, as I am meticulous with all my gear. Since the audience noticed my improved sound, I'm very pleased. It's a joy to perform with the Harbinger MLS1000, it meets all my expectations, and then some.

The middle tier is all for looks
Was shocked to learn no speakers in the middle tier, or any option to forego this tier and just have a shorter setup with only the top tier. Otherwise, too much treble. Turned highs all the way down on a line input and still piercing. I would recommend just going for the Harbinger 12" sub and 8" main on a stick; and it should come out cheaper than this with rolloff frequency control. If this were half-price, maybe worth it then. I owned one night but took it back.

Best Bang For Your Buck Lline Array Speakers

Tested all the line array speakers at my local GC for comparison, from JBL, EV, Bose, Yamaha to Harbinger, the Harbinger produced a very convincing balanced low, mid and high with clarity. It had enough punched and loudness for a small venue without distortion. The only one that's better is the Bose 16 but thats at a much higher price. Bought 2 MLS1000 during black Friday deal at steal. Ive had these set up twice already at a party for DJ and instruments/vocals using the xr18 mixer and these speakers shine. The built-in mixer is ok but sounds a bit boxy. You need an external mixer to get the best sound out of these speakers. These are plenty loud when 2 are linked together. The sound from vocals, instruments etc are crystal clear when mixed properly. Its like being in a concert in an auditorium. It can handle a venue the size of a high school gymnasium with enough low end punch when placed closed to a wall for bass reverberation. Cant wait to use it for the next gig.

Is it as good as a Bose L1Pro8? No but is it 1/2 the price? Yes. This is great for bar gigs. I use it as a solo musician playing acoustic guitar and singing. I use a loop pedal as well and never have issues with things being muddy. The built in mixer does sound a little boxy so I use a Yamaha MG6XU mixer that I can put by me if I need to make on the fly adjustments. If I'm hosting open mics I use a bigger Yamaha sound board and a 2nd MLS1000.
Best for the money! Love these speakers!

I compared side by side Bose pro16 and these. Although the Bose were about 15% fuller sound on the low end. The towers were pretty darn comparable. The weight to sound output is perfect for me a 64 years old solo musician. To move up to a fuller sound adds 15-20 lbs, not worth the extra weight to me. I mainly play small-medium bars and venues which i usually have turned about 1/3- 1/2. Plenty loud and plenty clear sound. Had for 3 years, used outdoors in 85 degree heat, 20-30 / year, and paired together and no issues. Used 2 in small gyms for dj weddings and although not heart pounding bass, couples were very satisfied with sound output.

If I'm using one Ms1000 and I have a soundboard hooked up should I set the soundboard to mono or stereo?
The Harbinger MLS1000 is a mono speaker system, even though it has stereo inputs. If you're using one single MLS1000, your main output to it should be mono, especially if you're mixing through a soundboard (mixer).submitted5 months ago

I bought one last week, and it has a very noticeable self-noise (static). I tried line conditioners and checked for ground loops, and nothing seemed to reduce the noise, even coming from the subwoofer. How can I reduce it enough to improve my listening experience at low volume levels?
