In 1956, Walter Hofner had an idea for an amplified semi-acoustic bass. When it was brought to life, his idea resulted in a bass with a warm, woody, double-bass-like amplified tone. Many players revere Hofner basses for their historical significance, as well as for their a
smooth, sweet sound and a playing ease that simply eludes most ordinary basses.

Because the original had become so scarce and expensive, popular demand compelled Hofner to re-create the Club Bass 500/2. The new Club Bass shares the feel, tone, and many features of the Vintage '63 but with a more traditional guitar body profile and a single cutaway.

    Absolutely love this bass. Has the classic Hofner sound and then some. You can get some many tones from this bass. It's light, highest quality and easy to play. Also, the look of the bass is first class without looking like a Beatles wannabe.

    Absolutely love this bass. The number of tones you can get was a huge surprise. The quality is top notch. It's easy to play and it sound exactly like the Violin version with a much cooler look. Was well worth the wait.

    Seems nice out of the box. Even tone from string to string and punches through a mix. Very light weight and well worth trading 4 expensive American Fenders for that included a Jaco Pastorius Jazz Bass and three others that either cramped up my hands or didn't eq as well in a live mix.

    I have been using this bass in the studio since I received it and I can't put it down. The tone is like nothing else I've ever had in any other bass guitar and I have many. This is a made in Germany model and it is everything I hoped it to be.
