Helping a local yoga studio fix problems with getting good levels on a very inexpensive wireless lavalier mic that only had a 1/4" (mono) output. This adapter (actually 1/4" TRS balanced to XLR) allowed plugging the wireless receiver into a mic-level (vs. line level) input on a USB mixer, so they had better gain setting capabilities for instructors with widely different voice levels.

I bought two of these to hook my mixer to my powered speakers. Unfortunately, one of them did not work, I don't know why. The one that did work worked well, and I would buy more if I needed them. The sound is nice with very little noise.

Would this be able to connect a speaker to a electric guitar?

A guitar doesn't connect directly to a speaker. Why are you connecting a guitar to a speaker? Your guitar has a 1/4" jack, why do you want an XLR? What speaker?
