Intuitive Sidebar Navigation
TONEX 1.5 adds a comprehensive sidebar section with intuitive filters and folders, for quickly searching and organizing Tone Models and presets. Between the "Tone Model" and "Preset" modes, the new sidebar streamlines the workflow by keeping all essential search functions accessible in one easy-to-navigate area.
Customizable User Folders
Organizing Tone Models and presets is easier in TONEX 1.5 with the addition of custom user folders. You can organize and create as many folders as you like, and manage Tone Models or presets by simply dragging and dropping them into place. Custom folders for amp type, pedals, songs or sets are just some of the ways you can now quickly organize Tone Models to suit their needs and workflow.
Enhanced View Options
A new Card view offers a second way to display Tone Models and presets. Whether you want to see more Tone Models at once with the Card view or prefer to see more details via the List view, both options offer direct access to essential actions via new mouseover macros. TONEX 1.5 also lets you expand the relative size of the List or Card views within the application, and rescale the entire graphic interface to optimize the window’s use of space.
Refined Amp and Cab Section
The Amp and Cab section now offers drag-and-drop functionality for quickly trying out different Tone Models, which can be moved directly into the Amp or Cab cells to replace what’s there and try out new sounds. Optional "locks" keep either the amp or cab fixed so you may explore other tone possibilities, comparing how an amp sounds with different cabs or vice versa. TONEX 1.5 also adds bulk import for IRs and a new window to quickly integrate and manage all user and 3rd-party impulse responses within TONEX.
Deeper ToneNET Integration
TONEX 1.5 adds a dedicated section for Tone Partner and Signature Collections. These Premium collections can be easily accessed in the redesigned "Collection" section of TONEX with the ability to use the newly introduced filtering options of the sidebar. You can sort collections by version, signature or by a specific Tone Partner, with Quick filters to further refine the search. Play audio samples, try demos and make purchases, all within the "Collection" view.
New Filters for TONEX Pedal
Prepping for gigs is quicker now too thanks to the updated "Library" section that takes full advantage of the new filtering options to sort and organize Tone Models for transfer to TONEX Pedal. Users can apply any of the new filters or select from their user folders to move Tone Models directly to the pedal for their next show.
Bonus Premium Tone Models
To reward all, TONEX 1.5 also includes 15 new Premium Tone Models for paid versions of TONEX (SE, Full and MAX) featuring a wide selection of clean and high-gain tones, perfect for studio and stage. These Tone Models are based on sought-after amps from IK's vault, such as a Bogner Shiva, Hiwatt DR103, Orange OR120, ENGL Powerball and more.

Great Sounding Ampless Solution
This is exactly what I was hoping for! This has the most realistic sounding amp profiles I've heard yet and they really capture feel and harmonics better than most modelers. The good presets and captures just have a richness to them that you won't get from many other digital products. It's not perfect by any means, but does what I bought it to do and at a great price point. I bought this to have a bunch of quality amp profiles in a pedal that I otherwise could never afford or play. It works great as an ampless rig option. If you are profiling your own amps, using with your DAW, or trying use with other software, it may be a pain and there are lots of complaints out there about the UI and compatibility. The terminology takes a little getting used to also. I don't use it for that, but do think the capabilities of the software included adds value to this. I pretty much want to use my laptop as little as possible with this. I just use the Tonex app to organize the presets and download presets from Tonenet to add to the pedal, and for that it works well and is pretty straightforward. I had a Helix for a few years. It is a great piece of tech and very capable of making great sounds. It takes a lot of work and tweaking though, and I spent more time turning knobs than playing. Major option paralysis. I also felt like you needed to be a sound engineer to know how to set some of the granular options. I probably utilized less than 50% of its capabilities. It didn't make me want to get rid of any of my existing pedals and the amps sound better on the Tonex. The Tonex fits my needs better than the Helix did and I'm able to play with less tweaking to get great sounds. I'll probably be able to sell several drive pedals and a couple of amps now. If you're looking for a collection of great sounding amp profiles, this is it.

Good sound, priced correctly, but terrible UX/interface
ToneX has the potential to be the greatest guitar product of 2023. Primarily designed as a virtual amp with real amp profiling capabilities, it is well-built and sounds excellent. If you find the right sounds for you, you'll be pleasantly surprised and satisfied with ToneX. Currently, I've been using ToneX in place of my amp and integrating it with my pedalboard (see attached picture), and ToneX handles pedals better than Kemper or Helix. I still need to test its performance as a preamp, connected to my head's power amp. For those who don't want to sell their pedals but also don't want to invest heavily in a Kemper or a QC, the ToneX can fulfill your needs. However, ToneX has a significant UX issue. It truly needed a better display – it only has 8 characters, and since the first one or two are used for the bank number, you'll have to carefully consider how to name your presets. But the worst aspect is its usability. The main functions are easily accessible, which is great. However, attempting to match volume between presets is impractical. Experimenting with different speakers or IRs is frustrating. And as far as I know, changing the mic position is not possible unless you use the ToneX software. The software is also extremely problematic. The main issue is that you cannot change your pedal/amp settings through the computer in real time. You need to find the sound, tweak it the preset in your computer, save it, and later export it to the pedal. Additionally, you are supposed to be able to use ToneX as an audio interface, connecting a guitar to your computer, so that you can create/manipulate presets on the software (importing them to the pedal later). However, I have no idea how to fix the latency – it's terrible and unacceptable. Additionally, ToneX app has several bugs. IK Multimedia really needs to address these issues and create software that makes programming easier for users. Once they do that (and I sincerely hope they do), the product will be exceptional. That's why I'm not giving a 5-star.

I was a purist using analog circuits and tube amps. But I recently got curious about modeling. In short, so worth it. I can dial up anything I want getting sounds I desired for years when using/buying different rigs. DI into PA/interface or straight into a clean amp, it's awesome.

I can't use it because the foot switch's on it don't work. Now I get to drive an hour to guitar center to return it on my next day off. Of course the store hours are terrible, 11am open? How convenient!

Like any piece of gear there is a learning curve. If you have patience, you can get what you need from this unit in a variety of ways. I run mine both direct into my DAW through an Apollo Twin, and through a stereo SD Powerstage into my cabinets. Both sound amazing with the right captures. And therein lies the key. Tones are like recipes. When you find a capture that works with a particular guitar and cab (not all of them are perfect), you will be rewarded with a tone that EASILY rivals that of the amp which was used to create the capture in the first place. So yes, with a little patience and know-how, you'll inevitably consider ditching your amplifier heads like most people that use this product. I chose to keep mine to make my own captures and it's all just glorious. Watch some videos online and tell me, cab you hear the difference?
