iKlip Xpand keeps a tight grip!

I bought this iKlip Xpand for my Apple mini iPad so I could hook it up to my one keyboard. Boy, no more taping my iPad to either keyboard I use at practice. This unit is great. It holds the tablet tightly without any trouble at all, firmly in place even when I have to change sounds or whatever I'm doing, I can move the tablet on the microphone stand however I want to place it. The iKlip Xpand can be tighten however I want to place it on the microphone stand. Once it's in place, I can move my iPad in whatever direction I want, once I have it in place, I secure it and I'm golden. This is one great unit for a great price as well!

I bought this a few months ago to hold an iPad so I could see chord changes/lyrics on stage. The store clerk suggested another design but this one seemed more flexible, as it could expand to fit my current iPad and possibly a larger iPad in the future. I should have taken the store clerk's advice. First, all the "connections" are plastic. The ball and socket connection that allows the clip's angle to be adjusted slips easily, causing the iPad to droop. I fixed this issue somewhat by putting a piece of non-skid matting (the kind you use as placemats on boats) in the joint but it's still not great. Second, (and even more importantly) the clip does not hold the iPad securely. My iPad has slipped out of the clip and onto the floor or my pedalboard a couple of times, putting a couple of dents in the case. Even when you place the iPad as high as it will go on the clip, the iPad starts slipping down. Therefore, I would not recommend you use the clip in any application in which the iPad is only being supported by this clip. I sort of worked around this issue by installing the iKlip on top of a horizontal mic boom so that the boom prevents the iPad from falling to the floor but that limits the usefulness of this device. In summary, I would stay away from this product and choose one that holds the iPad in a cradle which supports it from the bottom as well as the sides. It does work okay if you only intend to attach it to a mic boom which is pointed at you. Otherwise, there's a good chance your iPad will just slip out of this clip.

    I was desperate to get an iPad clamp like this one in time for a gig that evening, but I so regret getting this one. Just got a brand new 11" iPad Air, and the iPad kept slipping down. My friend sitting in the front row had to keep coming up to catch and reset the iPad in the clamp--at least 4x during a 45 min set. It was awful and so embarrassing. Had the iPad fell on the hard stage floor, it would've been a total disaster, as I had to remove the protective case on my iPad to get it the clamp arms to hold the iPad. Look for another clamp. This one is a joke.

    I bought this after asking the guy at the counter if it would fit an iPad Pro 12.9" with a case. He said yes and also on iKlip's website in the product info section it says with will fit a 12.9" iPad with a case. IT DOES NOT!! I even grinded down my new, $50 iPad case in order to make it fit, but couldn't grind it down enough. VERY ANGRY with this company for falsely advertising this product. I also do not like the design of the tilt mechanism. Not a good design.
