    Ibanez Artcore AS53

I got this guitar in red about a week ago and I must say I'm impressed. To start off with it's beautiful and plays wonderfully. Also it has great tone. You would think that with the minimalist styling (only one tone knob) it would be rather limited but, of course you'd be wrong. It can go from a very fat raunchy sound to a more thin jazzy sound all by turning the one tone knob up or down. Hooked into the amp it has a great full sound but played unplugged it sounds good as well. Being semi hollow its very convenient if you aren't near an amp or else are just too lazy to get off of the couch with it. (occasionally me) :) The action of the neck is superb in that the playability is very smooth. It also stays in tune for a long time of heavy use. All in all I'm very pleased with this guitar, it's tone, look, quality, everything. I definitely recommend it.

    Good sound, questionable workmanship

To start, this guitar has a great sound. But I have been very disappointed with it its workmanship. I have had the guitar for less than a year. It has multiple cracks, including a large crack where the neck meets the body (I have never dropped it). Now, the input jack is displaced and I can't plug the guitar in. After I discovered the cracks, I took the guitar to guitar center, and they would not help me. I called Ibanez, and while they said they might help me out, I need to ship them the guitar and they will NOT pay for shipping. Either way, I am out time and money on this guitar due to questionable workmanship.

Returned twice. Guitar had a crack where the neck and the body met, and the pickups and tone switch kept falling off. The guitar was never dropped. Poor craftsmanship.

    • Yes I am going to buy another one

Felt great right out of the box. Love this guitar. Got the black. Now I have to get the red. If you know how many guitars you have then you don't have enough.

    • Don't need but one.

I received a 2019 model which features different wood combinations than what the site advertised. Still seems nice enough but I would have preferred the mahogany maple and rosewood rather than the nyatoh laurel and sapele.

I recently bought the Ibanez Artcore AS53.
Having Fret Buzzing going on.
What can be done about this issue.
Also, goes out of tune easily.
Would you suggest installing locking tuners?

Yes you can. It won't be as loud as an acoustic, but it will be louder than a standard solid body electric.

Is it possible for you to pick out a very dark AS53TKF? The pictures I have seen range from a medium brown to a very dark chocolate brown, almost black. I would prefer the darkest you can get.

Unfortunately, this wouldn't be possible. The guitar would be randomly picked from our warehouse inventory.

Ibanez makes one for it, but it's a special order. However most hollowbody cases will fit.
