It's a really nice small-scale bass. Too bad it Ibanez doesn't make a left-hand version.
One of the best 5 strings I own.

I brought this to a Skillet concert and I ended up getting on stage and played with John Cooper it performed flawlessly and I had no issues.
Highly recommended!

I have played for 44 years and 5 string for the last 35 years. I have been battling shoulder issues and back pain lately. My son ordered this from Guitar Center for me as a gift. Perfect out of the box. Played 2 gigs in my first 24 hours with it. Quickly became my favorite bass!
a hidden GEM of a bass on a budget price!

This bass is the best budget value 5 string under $250. I have been impressed by this bass as someone who has played close to 25 years. I originally bought it just as a back up bass, a fun short scale to jam on. Now with a good pre amp makes a great gigging choice for me. Solid low B!
Good for beginners

This bass was my first 5 string bass and my second bass ever. I played it in my school's jazz band and it was genuinely such a good bass. I would recommend this to anyone looking into trying 5 string. When I first got it the short scale was off putting but it grew on me. Would recommend.
Great bass for my arthritic fretting hand

My 75 year-old fingers are becoming very arthritic and my two Fender Jazz basses were causing too much pain so I tried the Mikro bass. Its short scale makes playing much easier and less string tension has provided painless fretting. The sound is amazing - from really punchy vintage bass sound to jazz bass to great slapping and with changing pluck position, it mimics a fretless bass beautifully. I am now playing daily and am very happy with this bass. The low cost belies the great sound and quality of the instrument.

Would this be a good starter bass for a seven year old who wants to start playing bass? Specifically asking about the 4 string version

I am not sure that the fret spacing will fit me as desired. If the spacing is too wide (at the nut end of the fingerboard) I would have difficulty playing this instrument. Can I return it if that is the case? Can I return it to the local Guitar Center for a full refund? Thank you.
Yes you can.submitted4 years ago

Is the Mikro any good for tapping? Would the short scale make it a bad choice for this usage or would it be ok?
You should still be alright. Might have a slightly different feel to it, but it's nothing you can't get used to.submitted4 years ago

What are the gauges of the stock strings? Where do I get replacement sets? For me, the main problem with these little beautiful beasts is the difficult in finding the right strings for it. I've got one myself, bought through the website long ago (2012) and the shortest set I've found was a 30" scale one. Had to come out with a weird solution to fit the B string because It was too long. Thank you
Unfortunately, you'll have to go with the 30". Ibanez does not make a string and the manufacturers don't make anything shorter available.submitted5 years ago
