My husband loves this little bass. He finds it's fun to play. We had decided to get a mini in case our children became interested.

I've always loved the bass, but I'm a guitar player at heart. I had already recommended 3 of these for my young students before deciding to pull the trigger. These basses have the proportions of a guitar which makes them very comfortable to play. It will need setting up and I'm sure nothing will be perfect, but the feel is there. No issues with intonation. I love the matte finish on this with the black metal knobs (the other model that comes in various colors has silver plastic knobs). The color is a little different in person as soneone else described. Mine looks more like a chocolate coloree tone with less obvious woodgrain patterns.
Big sound - little package!

Nearly in tune out of the box with perfect action. The fret finish is surprisingly nice also. Only gripe is the color of the natural finish and the fretboard compared to the pictures online. Fretboard wood is very light and the body is a bit of a dark greenish/gold. It's a little bit of an ugly duckling, but it plays so well out of the box, that I couldn't return it for that.

How much does it weigh?
All basses vary depending on the density of the wood. Even the same model can vary up to a 1.5 lbs Manufacturers usually only spec size and type of wood. Bass Guitars are generally between 8.00 and 10.00 lbs. The only way to know the weight of an individual instrument is to weigh it. This will weigh approximately 7.5 - 8.5 lbssubmitted5 years ago

Would this be good for my average-sized son who is turning 8?
This is a smaller scale bass, so it would be a good choice for an 8 year old to learn on.
