Ibanez PN12E Parlor Acoustic-Electric Guitar Vintage Mahogany Sunburst

Description
The Ibanez PN12E Parlor acoustic-electric guitar provides a lush, resonant tone ideal for any style. Its compact parlor body is comfortable to play and projects a balanced, articulate sound. A sapele top paired with nyatoh back and sides generates warmth and clarity. The PN12E comes equipped with an Ibanez AEQ-2T preamp and onboard tuner for plugging in at gigs.
Parlor Body Style Delivers Comfort and Tone
The PN12E features a traditional parlor body style, which produces a focused midrange and tight low end perfect for fingerpicking or strumming full chords. Its smaller size rests easily on the lap and is ideal for players of all skill levels. The parlor body's balanced resonance and crisp articulation also make it a favorite for recording.
Tonewoods Provide Depth and Warmth
A solid sapele top gives the PN12E a musical midrange and rich overtones. Nyatoh back and sides enhance warmth and sensitivity, allowing each note to ring through clearly. The rosewood fingerboard and bridge also contribute to the guitar's woody timbre and supple playability.
AEQ-2T Preamp Powers Performances
The Ibanez AEQ-2T preamp comes equipped with an onboard tuner for quick tuning adjustments on stage. Its simple controls include volume, treble and bass for dialing in your tone. The preamp's 1/4" output lets you plug directly into an amplifier or PA system, allowing the PN12E to shine in any live setting.
Appointments and Finish Provide the Perfect Accents
Chrome die-cast tuners, ivory body binding and Ibanez Advantage bridge pins supply an elegant vintage esthetic. A vintage mahogany sunburst high-gloss finish highlights the depth and figure of the tonewoods. Overall, the PN12E offers exceptional value in an acoustic-electric parlor guitar.

A great guitar that is ready to play right out of the box
This is the first guitar that I have ever seen that was ready to take out and lay right out of the box. This is a guitar that would be particularly good for guitarist who play mostly on electrics as this guitar is almost as easy to play as a well setup electric guitar. In addition the neck has about the same dimensions as an electric guitar. The nut is about 1 3/4" wide and about 1 7/8" wide at the 5th fret. Because this is a parlor style guitar the instrument has a short scale of 24 1/2". Thus, you can use a heavier gauge of string that you might ordinarily use and still be able to do some deep string bends. On acoustic guitar I prefer the extra light gauge strings (0.10). The strings that came with the guitar appear to be approximately that following gauges: .12 .17 .25 .32 .44 .54. Also because this is a parlor guitar the neck and body come together at the 12th fret. I tried several different tuners on this guitar and compared this with the onboard tuner. In each case the onboard tuner and my other tuners seem to indicate that the onboard tuner was doing an excellent job in getting the strings right on pitch. The build-in preamp is simple and has a volume knob and a bass and treble knob. I ran this guitar through 3 different kinds of acoustic amps and it sounded great. The amplified sound was clean, clear, with stable well rounded tones coming through the amp. I placed a high end tuner with a needle type of meter in front of the amp and the needle did not waver. All overtones appear to be well managed on this guitar. The strap button at the heel of the guitar was located on the bottom of the heel. I would have liked to seen this strap button located on the underside of the heel. With the strap button on the bottom of the heel this tends to make the guitar move away swing out and down a little. If it had been located on the underside of the heel this would have kept the instrument a little closer to your body. I am going to install a strap button later on the underside of the heel as many guitar makers are doing today. I originally bought this is a travel guitar, but I think that it will become my favorite guitar for use in live performance situations. I like this better that many other instruments that cost 10 times or more than this instrument.

Maybe I Got a Bad One
Nice looking and well made. I had to return it because it was so sharp at the 12th fret. Bad intonation made it impossible to tune, and it sounded horrible. Action too high, but the extra bridge included might be a lower one. Tried extra light strings, but it made no difference.

Truly, for the price point, this is a great sounding guitar. No complaints there. Definitely some fret buzz but that is easily solvable with a setup. My issue with it, and why I'll be returning it today is the frets are sprouting on the sides and have torn my fingers up pretty rough.

This guitar is ready to play put of the box Beautiful finish. Good feel and easy fretting sparkly sound and good projection The nut, bridge and tuners need to be replaced and a proper set up will reduce the rattle of strings when strummed, worth the investment

Sounds great and easy to tune. Fret-board and spacing great for smaller hands, or new to instrument and learning basics. Only con - one of the fret markers is off-center. Cosmetic imperfection, but gives character!
Great guitar for the price!

Guitar plays great right out of the box. Didn't need a setup. All I did (cuz I'm OCD) is file down the little bit of fret sprout on a few frets, polish the frets and installed new strings. Sounds great. Looks great and a bonus is the electronics and even has a built in tuner. Can't go wrong with the price tag if you like the sound of parlor guitars.
I don't know what to say here.
