Description
This SR375EF is a handsome 5-string fretless bass designed for the experienced player. The bass starts with an immaculately finished maple body. Other features include a sturdy 5-piece maple/jatoba SR4 neck, a jatoba
At the heart of the SR375EF’s electronics are two PowerSpan Dual Coil pickups. Their stainless pole pieces
offer higher output, clarity and fullness than any in the SR375’s class. Accessed by the 3-way “Power Tap” switch, these proprietary pickups offer a choice of three tonal personalities: A rich humbucker sound, a pure single-coil sound or an enhanced single-coil sound— fattened by lows from the humbucker pickups. Add the ability to dial in precise tone preferences via the Ibanez Custom 3-band EQ, and the SR375EF is a musical chameleon.

Cannot beat this for the price point. You can dial in any tone you are looking for with the stock electronics. The power tap switch can be a bit deceiving but it adds another layer. One position turns the Powerspan dual coil into a single coil (think JB sound), then humbucker (my preferred fuller sound and no hum), then single coil with a bass boost to add depth. This along with the 3 band eq is great. The neck on mine has great craftsmanship with no buzz and was set perfectly. Please do not play this without buying a set of flatwounds (recommend the Rotosound rs885ld trubass black nylon flatwound strings). You will be disappointed. The strings the bass is shipped with are standard roundwound nickel. With the roundwound you will get the feel and the "wah" you are looking for. If you like the fast smooth feel of an Ibanez neck this is on target!
Great value for the money

I've owned and played this bass exclusively for over 6 years now. I'd been looking for a fretless five string suitable for use in my prog rock band, but have found it versatile enough for anything I have use it for. If you truly know how to dial in your own instrument, not relying on some 'tech', you'll be able to get what you want from this bass.
I wish they'd planed the neck a little better.

I run a studio recording bands and singer-songwriters, and I typically play a decent handful of gigs each month, about half on guitar and half on bass. I play bass on much of the music that comes through the studio. This bass sounds great, but they just didn't do that great of a job planing the neck, and it has some buzzy spots. I (meaning my skillful tech) had to raise the action on mine higher than I'd like to get enough of the buzz out to use it. I've played other fretless basses that were capable of better, and it's just because somebody got the neck a little flatter. I'll eventually either get somebody to go over the fingerboard on mine and make it flatter, or I'll sell it and move on. I ordered this bass; I won't do that again with a fretless bass -- I'll try it in person first next time. This is the 2nd fretless bass I've owned, and I've played a number of them over the years.

Not pleased, strings rattle like it has frets and that's not what I was looking for.
Great backup for an Ibanez SRF705

I have this as a backup for my Ibanez SRF705. Only two minor gripes. I wish the fingerboard were plain instead of having the fret slots filled with something which looks a bit ugly. And it comes with round-wound string which for a fretless seems a bit odd to my mind. The neck is surprisingly thin which gives it a slightly less solid feel compared to the SRF705. The active tone controls give an enormous amount of flexibility but need to be handled with care; a very small turn of the knobs produces a huge change in the sound.

Weight? Recommended gig bag ?(not hard case) Tx
1) All basses vary depending on the density of the wood. Even the same model can vary up to 1.5 lbs Manufacturers usually only spec size and type of wood. Bass Guitars are generally between 8.00 and 10.00 lbs. The only way to know the weight of an individual instrument is to weigh it. I'm sorry I don't have one to weigh. This will be approximately 8.5 – 9.0 lbs. 2) Road Runner RR5TEB Highway Premium Electric Bass Gig Bag Blacksubmitted3 years ago
