Ibanez TOD10NTKF—Tim Henson's Visionary Nylon Acoustic Electric

Step into the future of nylon-string guitars with the Ibanez TOD10NTKF, the stunning Tim Henson signature model. This instrument masterfully blends classical warmth with modern electric guitar ergonomics and bold aesthetics, perfectly reflecting Henson's innovative musical approach. Featuring a solid Sitka spruce top, ultra-thin body, lightning-fast neck, and premium electronics, the TOD10NTKF is built for players who push boundaries. Its unique Tree of Death inlay and transparent finish make a striking visual statement, matching its boundary-breaking sound and feel—a truly unique nylon acoustic-electric guitar.

Articulate Tone Woods—Solid Sitka Spruce Meets Warm Sapele

The TOD10NTKF's core voice starts with a solid Sitka spruce top, chosen for its exceptional clarity, dynamic responsiveness, and crisp articulation—perfect for intricate passages. This is paired with sapele back and sides, adding a pleasing warmth and resonance that balances the spruce's brightness. Supported by traditional fan bracing for optimal vibration, this tonewood combination yields a versatile nylon acoustic-electric guitar sound with shimmering highs and full-bodied character, responding beautifully to nuanced playing dynamics for truly expressive performances.

Electric Guitar Feel—Ultra-Thin Body and Fast Nylon Neck

Experience unparalleled comfort and speed on a nylon string. The TOD10NTKF boasts an incredibly slim body depth (just under 2 inches) and a sleek cutaway, offering effortless playability familiar to electric guitarists. Its C-shaped neck profile, flat 400R fretboard radius, and narrow nut width facilitate seamless transitions between complex fingerstyle patterns and rapid lead lines. Adding to the playing experience, a discreet side sound port directs acoustic resonance towards the player, creating an immersive connection with the instrument's natural voice.

Stage-Ready Electronics—Fishman Pickup and Ibanez Preamp System

Translate the TOD10NTKF's unique nylon tone flawlessly to any stage or studio environment with its integrated Fishman Sonicore pickup and Ibanez AEQ210TF preamp system. This reliable electronics package ensures your amplified sound retains its natural acoustic character. Shape your tone precisely using the intuitive onboard bass and treble controls. Eliminate feedback effectively with the convenient phase switch. Stay perfectly in tune between songs using the built-in digital tuner, which cleverly doubles as a mute function. This guitar is primed for professional performance.

Tree of Death Inlay and Signature Aesthetic

This Ibanez signature guitar is crafted with attention to detail and quality components. A bone nut and saddle ensure optimal string vibration transfer for enhanced sustain and tonal clarity. The unique tie-in bridge adds a touch of classical tradition. Visually, the guitar is dominated by the intricate custom "Tree of Death" fingerboard inlay—a hallmark of Tim Henson's style. Finished in a sleek transparent black that showcases the wood grain, the TOD10NTKF is as visually captivating as it is sonically impressive, built for lasting performance.

A Bold New Voice for Modern Nylon Players

Sweet design and unique sound!

I absolutely love the feel and sound of this guitar. It's definitely unique and the fretboard is wide so I feel like my fingers have room to move around the strings without accidentally hitting another (unlike a strat). I play this guitar the most now because of how cool it sounds. I bought the guitar because of the look and Tim Henson, the sound, and because I wanted to learn the Ego Death intro and I am not disappointed!

I bought this as a Polyphia fan and I love it. I can get nylon string sounds with an electric feel. It's also fun to look at as well as play. I know people complain about Ibanez' QC issues but I have not experienced problems like that. Extremely satisfied with this guitar, would recommend!

Did some research prior to buying it. Overall guitar for me was worth buying. I HIGHLY recommend getting the saddle shaved down to even out the string action. After that, it plays so great on the higher frets.

Read some not so great reviews and took a chance. VERY pleased with the piece, flawless construction, out of box playability on point. Holds tune all the way up the neck. Very pleased with the electronics, feel and sound.

  • Easy to play and no feedback!

Solved an earlier problem I had as I really liked the FRN10 earlier model but disliked the lack of volume control and EQ on that model, which this solves nicely and it's a beautiful guitar!

I have bought and returned 3 tod10n, and all of them have quality issues. corroded strings, and gold hardware, imperfections on the body of the guitar, and fretboard damages. All of these were made in January of this year. They were all brand new.

I know to play like Tim Henson you need to use an absurd amount of harmonics, so do the harmonics ring out, thank you.

Was there a special way the strings were put on? My High E string keeps slipping as I'm trying to restring it and I took it to a store and they told me that the finish on the bridge is what is causing the string to slip. They also said that people with the same guitar are having the same exact problem so I wanted to know how the strings were put on the first time.

I’m sorry, I don’t know. Perhaps an inquiry to Ibanez.

The biggest difference between the two nylon-strings can be found in the electronics department. As opposed to a Fishman Sonicore, the FRH10N comes loaded with Ibanez’s proprietary T-Bar Undersaddle pickup.
