TS9 but more

This moved onto my pedalboard recently as a "tinker" OD. I tinker with it to get big fat fuzzy tones over what my other OD pedals provide and it delivers. I won't say it tops the others but it does what I need it to do and for that it's a keeper. Yeah a TS9 would do but for a few more pennies for a few more whistles it didn't break the bank and I'm rather satisfied with it amongst my other OD pedals of green.
VERY HAPPY BUT NOT WHAT I EXPECTED

I've never had an overdrive pedal before and thought this would give more of a distortion sound. It does not. But it does give you just enough boost to go into a solo without totally changing the sound of your guitar. I really like this pedal. It is best used when your gain is set high enough to get a little distortion; once you kick in the pedal, you get a nice crunch sounds from it without any breakup.
Massive sound through most amps

Put this through a tube amp with decent distortion and its a metal machine, or a fender\Marshall on clean you get warm overdrive for blues rock and twang or even punk and alternative. Basically a versatile overdrive pedal for a decent price, use it in your line or by itself great pedal great price .
Just what I needed for great sustain.

While trying to learn Santana's Europa I was just not getting the right tone and sustain out of either my Ibanez semi-hollow body AGS73T or my Gibson Les Paul. The Tube Screamer was the magic addition to my Fender Champion 100 set up to get the rich tones and deep sustain I was after. Easy to set up and use and lots of options to play with. Changes are subtle and really let you hone in on a tone you're after.

Another great overdrive from IBANEZ. I put this side-by-side with a TS808 and played with them for about an hour. Both are great but the TS808 was more than I wanted to spend. The TS9DX is a credible substitute for a lot less money. Your board won't have the same level of "cool" but you won't be disappointed. If you want crunch, just crank up the Drive knob. If you want the warmth of tube overdrive, dial it back a bit. It makes a Strat + '65 Deluxe Reverb sound even more awesome. Use it with a Les Paul and get a big fat, ballsy sound.
Tightens it up!

I bought this pedal for two purposes. One was to be able to loop my noise supressor, and the second was to tighten up my solid state amp distortion. Im really happy to have this awsome pedal complete my supression loop. I am currently running through a solid state amplifier and have resently done away with distortion pedals. My amp distortion is okay but is a little loose. This pedal tightened the sound up alot without creating the nasty tone you get from dis. pedals. I keep it on the ts9 mode and have gain and tone very low. But i have used the pedal as a lone source of distortion and it sounds great there too. Over all it is an amazing quality product!

Would this work as a distortion pedal.
More accurately, it’s considered an overdrive pedal. Type: Overdrive (not high-gain distortion) Sound Character: Smooth, midrange-focused tone that’s great for blues, rock, and boosting tube amps into natural distortion. If you’re looking for aggressive distortion (e.g., metal tones) from the pedal itself, the TS9DX may not be the best standalone choice.submitted5 years ago
